    Toronto 88 Scott Street | 203.9m | 58s | Concert | P + S / IBI

A much nicer looking building than some of the glass square boxes gracing the skyline. More please.

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

That old stretch of Yonge needs a makeover, and Aura is in the forefront. Others are following, with applications that will add to the regeneration. Hopefully they will be diverse in their design. There is room for improvement on the design of the other proposals, like the 2 towers at 501 Yonge...

    Toronto Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

It will be interesting to see if the developer takes all or some of the recomendations to heart. There is a lot of room for improvement, and hopefully they will use the oportunity to dazzle a bit more than they have.It does look like a termite infested piece of wood as was mentioned before. The...

I notice how one panel member stated that a building this height had to be earned, and the architecture should be more spectacular. Bang on. This is what I've been going on about, yet there are a large number of people willing to accept anything, as long as it's tall. Good to see there are...

    Toronto Massey Tower Condos | 206.95m | 60s | MOD Developments | Hariri Pontarini

That's what I thought. They are not short of confidence.

    Toronto Massey Tower Condos | 206.95m | 60s | MOD Developments | Hariri Pontarini

Has this tower been given the green light? Good to see the restoration, as I assume they wouldn't start that, without some idea of the final approvals.

    Toronto 50 Bloor Street West | 230.11m | 70s | Morguard Corporation | Pellow + Associates

I rather like the render. Hopefully the real thing resembles the drawing.

Our history pales in comparison to other cities in the world, hence the term new world in history books. To compare our history, as brief and colouful as it is, with European or Asian cities is naive. This discussion is over for me.The others who wish to beat this to death, Carry on.

When i travel to cities, great architecture leaves an impression. Bland architecture also leaves an impression on people, but not in a positive way. It's the first thing people see driving into the city, or flying in for that matter. When i think of Paris, i think of much more than the Eiffel...

    Toronto Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

They don't have to be held to a world beating standard as you suggest, but the core of any city should be held to the best standard that can be achieved. Toronto has had an inferiority complex for 25 years. The last few years has seen a building boom which has captured the eyes of many cities...

    Toronto Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

I'm sure the architects and builders of these projects don't give a rats ass what i or anybody else on this forum think. They will build what the city allows, and what people buy. Not everyone is going to agree they are great buildings. Settling for second best is sometimes better than nothing...

kkgg7 I agree absolutely. There is no class to any off the new construction, and there doesn't appear to be any on the horizon. Whatever happened to the waterfront planning committee? I thought your idea of the tree lined boulevard was part of their mandate.

    Toronto Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

It appears enough people are satisfied with mediocre design, and bland architecture. If that's all the builder/architects need to sell the units, then that's what you will get. Toronto has waited decades for a boom like this, that is then envy of cities everywhere, and then you get buildings...

    Toronto Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

Another missed oppurtunity to erect a building outside of the box. There is plenty of room to build another condo that doesn't resemble all the other glassworks in the area. It does change the exterior enough to separate it from the others, but in the end? I guess if this as good as it's going...

    Toronto 50 Bloor Street West | 230.11m | 70s | Morguard Corporation | Pellow + Associates

Absolutely correct. There is still time for firms to make a statement, but I fear that won't happen. Such wasted opportunities. In and out quick, and on to the next box.

    Toronto Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences | 236.51m | 67s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

The excitement of all the construction is fading, as developers replicate existing buildings and more of the same sprouts up. With few exceptions, and little deviation from the norm, when a new development is announced, we all know what to expect. Too bad, as Toronto has the chance to show the...

We all knew this was coming, but wow, it's still good to hear someone stepping up. Hopefully this will be an architectural masterpiece that will set the tone for other large projects to come. When is it going to end. It seems like every week there is something bigger and better.
