Yup, a much nicer boutique too. His old spot on Bellair has been leased now, just not sure by whom.

So I've noticed that there is crazy leasing activity on Cumberland, Yorkville, and Bellair. The old Louis Black has been leased, a unit at 70 Yorkville has been leased, and has been mentioned, the old Hugo Boss on Cumberland and old Betsy Johnson on Yorkville has been leased to name a few. I...

Anyone know what's going into the old Hugo Boss on Cumberland?

So it would seem that the staff at The North Face have no idea their store is closing. That means they're either going to find out shortly or the 151 address that Stuart Weitzman is taking is something else. I can't for a second believe it's Montblanc or Max Mara since MM just finished a reno...

I'll reference myself here - turns out it will be a Rolex boutique, similar to what's in place at Royal de Versaille. The hoarding is up. There are also a number of new stores slated for 2013 so it'll be interesting to see what those will be next year. All Saints and Superdry for sure.

Agent Provocateur? Just a guess...I know they've been looking in Yorkville.

Well Montblanc is too small a space for Stuart Weitzman to be taking anyway so I'm not too worried about that. What I'm curious about is how The North Face didn't last. I didn't think Bloor was the right spot for it, but it did always seem pretty busy. To me, they're more a Yonge & Dundas or...

It's definitely North Face. I've been living under a rock apparently since I didn't even know they were closed/closing. What's more interesting is this article posted by Retail-Insider... http://www.retail-insider.com/2012/12/dolce-gabbana-opening-free-standing.html So I stand corrected...

Very true. I actually can't think of any space right now so it may not be until 1 Bloor East is completed that we see Dior. Like I said, the rumour is that Ferragamo has signed a lease in the old Tiffany, but nothing confirmed yet.

Stand alone, yes. You can check their website.

Yah, I heard, YSL, Tom Ford to name a few. At any rate, this will be only the 8th stand alone D&G in NA. But if you discount the fact that L.A., Las Vegas, and NYC have separate mens and womens stores, this is only the 5th city in NA.

Great news! So that leaves only a couple of spaces where Dior and Ferragamo can set up. Rumour is that Ferragamo has leased the old Tiffany though. Still waiting on confirmation of that. ...and there's still, of course, the pseudo-cursed old MAC spot.

It is. I had already somewhere that they were opening in Yorkville.

I wouldn't exactly call it a 'dedicated Rolex Boutique' though in Raffi Jewelers. It's more like a small counter. Still really nice of course, but boutique is misleading.

That would seem to make sense. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Cushman & Wakefield have released their latest retail report on global high streets. One thing that stood out was this article about it from the Financial Post... http://www.financialpost.com/markets/news/Cushman+Wakefield+Retail+Rents+Rise+World+Most+Expensive+Shopping/7544548/story.html...

Hmm, you're right. I just perpetuated the 'legend'. Funny, it seems that Sherway's expansion will actually include some higher end stores than Yorkdale, plus some of the same ones like Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Ted Baker. But it will have a TUMI plus others.

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

So 7-Eleven is taking over the short-lived Kitchen Stuff Plus at Y&D. Garbage! The world could use less 7-Eleven's in prime retail locations.

Superdry was also part of the leaked floor plan. Yorkdale was very specific about 40 new first to market brands - could have been a lot of hype though. I'm personally happy about Ted Baker, and always nice to see Ann Taylor and Kate Spade for the Mrs. Can't afford a Rolex, but still nice to...
