Lets just say they would not have received a green pass card for the window then. I was sternly warned against touching the tips left on the tables. Most of the tables were propped up with ashtrays to keep em level. The long narrow stairs to the basement were a treat as was the employee...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I actually worked (bused) at Fran's St. Clair Ave, one night, four and a half hours. That would have been 1980 give or take a year. The things I saw in those few hours would curl your toes! I had to buy new Black dress pants and white shirt to wear. I never returned, not even to pick up my pay.

This explains the old embankments on Sewels Rd just below steeles. It may also explain a funni looking spot on Taunton Rd. just west of Brock in Pickering. I will try to look at that on the way home after work, and maybe get a photo of it.

In the rare maps thread, the routing is clearly shown on an excelent map. Be sure to download the original map and zoom in for greater detail. I have that map on all my computer desktops. It makes a great way to pass time just surfing around it.

    Urban Wilderness!

Ahh! Those hot summer days of youth. I spent my tween/teenage years in Flemingdon Pk. and many hot summer days in this ravine. During the early tween years a favourite pastime was riding our bikes through the golf course, with golfers yelling at us to "get off the green!" Just below the...

No, I can still see this entire block, and I think it was one of the tallest at one time. Of course I'm not as versed on the building as others here, and could be wrong.

I sure wish my mother was more forthcoming with her stories of working here! All I know was she put detonator caps on the bombs and the new flourescent lighting was hard on the eyes and left her with permanent vision issues. She blamed it on the 25 cycle power to the new flourescent tubes. But...

    Scarborough Photographs: Then and Now

I'll try at home later tonight. Sometimes I get access issues here at work. Our internet servers are south of the border and It appears that I am accessing sites from the U.S. It certainly is a very very good reference site! Puts all of the Pottery road, Leaside, Eglinton extension, Old Yonge...

    Scarborough Photographs: Then and Now

Lone, Not Goldie just me. Just north of the bridge at what would be the top of the hill. If you zoom in about half way, there is one square that stays blurred. If you zoom all the way in the square gets smaller, but the field on the west side of Don Mills with a series of trails stays blurred...

    Scarborough Photographs: Then and Now

That is a very handy set of photos! I have found an anomaly in one of the sections. I was looking at Don Mills rd just as it comes out of the valley. One square on the view seems to be deliberately blurred. But for the life of me I can't figure out why or what might have been there.

The houses are nice, even if a porch or two has been enclosed. And sorry Moose, that is a Pontiac Astre not a Ford. It is the sister to the Chevy Vega, a very interesting car of some historical importance to automotive enthusiests. They where designed for vertical transport!

    Goldie's Toronto

Back around 1988 or 89, the project of the day was, IIRC, Ataraterie, or something like that. Mixed affordable housing similar to Crombie court and what is behind The Windmill line co-op where my father lived. My then girlfriend (now wife) and I signed up and attended some of the few meetings...
