Glad to see they are going to paint that roof. Gosh, is that a terrazzo floor? I didn't know Metrolinx was aware of such substances. What next, escalators? Into the 20th century we go!
When is this supposed to happen?View attachment 724427
Unless the plan has changed, platform widths are supposed to double with 2 times the vertical accesses.
Is there? I'd not noticed.Question: there's a lot of defunct exits with their portals still left visible on many of the platforms at Union. Is there any plan in place to reinstate any of these? Exiting a train at rush hour is absolutely excruciating, this station was built for a town of 100k people. Every single additional egress point from the ridiculously narrow platforms would be quite welcome.

Do you mean the old luggage thingies?
Once the USEP project is complete, all Lakeshore (East & West) trains (& some Via trains) will operated from its new platforms, freeing up capacity in the old shed. So, in theory, work could start on merging platforms as soon as USEP is complete. That work is part of the OnXpress design and build project as far as I know. When is this supposed to happen?
so anywhere between 2051 and infinite future?Once the USEP project is complete, all Lakeshore (East & West) trains (& some Via trains) will operated from its new platforms, freeing up capacity in the old shed. thanks, I didn't realize it was only one. Kept seeing it around without noting the platform number and thought there was a whole army of them LOLThis is the only unused platform staircase at Union, and it actually connects to an entrance in the Bay Concourse. I don’t even think it’s pre renovation, it just never opened for some reason
Do we know the timing for the new platform configuration beyond the USEP changes?Once the USEP project is complete, all Lakeshore (East & West) trains (& some Via trains) will operated from its new platforms, freeing up capacity in the old shed. This is probably the closest you will seeDo we know the timing for the new platform configuration beyond the USEP changes?
Hmm. How many of those are there? Where did they go to? They aren't for baggage processing?
