And be stuck with JD Vance? Better the devil we know. Jan 2029 will come soon enough.
I don't think Vance will ever have the sway or connections the way Trump has. And likely even be more hated than Trump...

...the thing is though you want Trump, Vance and Mike Johnson to be on Air Force One as it goes down somewhere in the Pacific would likely be the better outcome here.

Known as ”The Johnson Rule”, POTUS and VP never travel together for that very reason.

That said, they do like ignoring rules, so have at it boys!

A LOT more damage can occur before Jan 2029.
True. But really what damage has Trump caused to Canada in this past first year? Trump’s bluster has brought Canada closer to new and old trading partners, including the EU, China and India. He’s also encouraged Canadians to travel and spend domestically and to reconsider the importance of national unity. Without Trump, we would have Poilivere as PM and a government based on xenophobia and division. By 2030 we may look back on 2025-2029 as a high period of Canadian nation building, economic diversity and cultural growth. Meanwhile, my company is still shipping its Canadian-made products to the US duty free, just as we always have. I make no predictions for 2026-2028, you’d be crazy too, and maybe CUSMA forces me to move production of our US market goods to the US, who knows. And some will argue that Trump’s just getting started. But either way, 2025 was not a disaster for Canada. Given the recent Republican losses in Georgia, Texas and a tight win in Tennessee, I predict the Nov 2026 mid terms will be interesting.

Not to confused that with Mike Johnson...

...but no one has ever mentioned that to me till today. Although I presume that was an unspoken given since that would make sense and all. But there again, this Admin is not about rules or sense.

I’m not just thinking about Canada. I am thinking about the individuals being harmed and who are living this attack on their constitution and freedoms. I am thinking about cuts and long term impacts on medical research. I am thinking about the families, my own included, who are experiencing rifts because of ideology. I am thinking about the removal and rewriting of history. I am thinking about the blatant racism and attacks of varying nature on racial and ethnic groups. I am thinking about my friends who love their country and who weep for what it is becoming. I thinking about all of the people who are being emboldened in their hate of “the other” and who are increasingly acting on that hate.

He might just want his name on it to be honest.....

Apologies to Mr.Howe, but I'm all for selling the naming rights to Mr. Trump, LOL.....

For 25.6B A nice healthy 300% markup on the cost of construction.

All governments - and even large corporations - have security and 'disaster continuity' protocols, depending on their structure. I'm not completely sure but a lot of the executive security procedures are codified so the President can't as easily wave them off (not saying he still wouldn't).

Under our system, the PM is technically just a 'first minister' so the 'line of succession' is more convention than constitutional. but, typically, the PM (head of government) does not travel with the GG (head of state).

The part of the post that jumped out at me is 'China will eat Canada alive - we'll just get the leftovers'. So he really wants the US to eat us alive first. What a negotiator.

The bridge isn't owned by Canada; it is jointly owned by Canada and Michigan. According to the Mayor of Windsor, US steel was used on the US side.

I wonder how much money the Moroun family donated to the Republican party. Trump supported the bridge during his first term.
Also, once cost of construction is paid by tolls, all future toll revenue is shared 50/50 between Michigan and Canada.

The whole purpose of this bridge was basically a way to tell the Moroun family to fuck off.
