Reece Martin wrote a column in the Toronto Star with a less than optimistic take on Finch ahead of Sunday's opening.

I found the link to the report which goes into greater detail which tunnel sections have been done. It's in Pages 17 and 18 of the PDF which I will share here. The TLDR version is Line 1 will be complete by Q1 2026 except for Eglinton to York Mills, while a significant portion of the Line 2...
It also doesn't help that 2026 is a super compressed election year. After yesterday's IEC meeting, there will only be five committee meetings left with the next one on February 25, 2026 - likely due to the budget process - and the last on July 15, 2026.
IIRC, there haven't been any cases where committee meetings lasted more than one day. Given this was probably one of the most effed up IEC meetings in recent memory, there needs to be a cap on the number of speakers for these committee meetings going forward as was done for the annual budget...
Today's Infrastructure & Environment Committee meeting looks like it will be a long one! 56 speakers registered for the TransformTO item (a.k.a. Toronto's climate action plan) and another 51 speakers for the bike plan item (which includes Kingston Road). You can follow along at the YouTube link...
Oh yeah! I remember that one which led to the new Bellevue Underpass. At least now we have Bayview as an alternate route whereas it didn't exist at the time of that closure.
At last, Toronto's Cycling and Pedestrian Unit is now on Bluesky! For those of you who use that platform, please give them a warm welcome.

Welcome, @camcmull! That is incredibly frustrating regarding the continued closures of the existing Railpath, while we're still in the dark as to when work on the Railpath extension to Abell Street will start. It's been almost six years since the final design was revealed FFS!
Finally! Hope this means the City of Toronto can get those long promised bike lanes from Keele to Mount Pleasant installed in Spring 2026 given Bills 60/212 exempt projects that are underway.
It is a real shame that none of the Rouge Park trails south of Steeles/Taunton are bikeable per Parks Canada's trail map. There needed to be at least one continuous bike trail from Webb Road in Stouffville to Lake Ontario.
In other bike related news, Insauga published this article recently...
This is pretty sad about these findings about the LRT being slower than the buses they replace. Based on the map, I would suggest removing the Driftwood and Stevenson stops to speed up service given they are too close to adjacent stations. Even with the removals, the spacing for Albion to Mount...
