    Merry Christmas UT

Tnx. I'm mainly trying not to get sick as well. Keeping three dogs including a puppy entertained (read: halfways quiet) is a full time job. Our neighbour sent over some amazing homemade chicken soup last night. The missus isn't eating solid food but I really enjoyed it. I'm trying to get...

    Canada and the World

As somebody pointed out in another forum, the use of the term 'amphibious' implies to many the ability to put land assets ashore, and support them, under tactical conditions. The Canadian Army doesn't have the capacity or mandate to do amphibious operations (i.e. Marines). Better to have a...

    Merry Christmas UT

Ya, her and our daughter keep talking about 'tomorrow' for actually doing the Christmas thing, but 'tomorrow' keeps getting pushed back. I've told them that the one-day turn around from an illness might work when we're 20 but not anymore. Everyday, her body keeps coming up with new fun symptoms.

President Donald Trump's United States of America

I yield to those would follow US politics more closely than I. Trump strikes me as quite delusional in his own greatness and completely unstrategic. Perhaps some of his cabinet actually have useful skills but I'm not seeing much of it. Mostly I see sycophants who either honestly believe in...

Dream big indeed. That would imply some type of airframe to put on it. We missed our chance with the Russia-destined Mistral that went to Egypt. I don't think it was 'ice strengthened' as it was cold-environment enabled.

President Donald Trump's United States of America

'Coming to realize' perhaps, but I not so sure there is a lot of 'learning' going on. Even if they are starting to realize some things, I don't see a lot of evidence that it is changing anybody's direction. Much of the Administration (Executive/Cabinet) seems to be doubling down

    Merry Christmas UT

Merry Christmas as well from the (near) north. An unplanned quiet non-event here. I'm just getting over a sinus infection, 15m old grandson was in Emerg Christmas eve for what turned out to be an ear infection; son-in-law (his dad) is sick, my missus is down with I suspect is the flu (actually...

President Donald Trump's United States of America

Over100 Christmas eve posts/reposts. Perfectly normal for a balanced human being. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-rings-christmas-day-flurry-posts-denouncing-perceived-foes-casti-rcna250922

    PM Mark Carney's Canada

Can't let NORAD have all the fun. Our daughter did a couple of hours on the 'NORAD Tracks Santa' call centre. She said it was quite busy. Most calls are from North America but a few were from Europe. They are given script answers for FAQs, but she was asked 'where does Santa poop' (not...

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

I don't normally follow this thread, so apologies if it's already been posted, but I just saw where a hangout of my past is closing its doors. San Francescos on Clinton was our hangout when OPP headquarters was in downtown Toronto. Grab one of the best veal on a bun on the planet then head...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Doesn't new equipment have to undergo a number of tests before it can operate under its own power? I assume no crew other than a borrowed VIA crew would be able to operate it, and none of the VIA crews would be cleared for the Bala and Newmarket subs. Don't running crews have to be 'certified'...

President Donald Trump's United States of America

Because that is the foundation for most of his EOs. And he's going to have a hand in the design because he is "very aesthetic" and felt earlier naval designs were ugly. Get ready for lots of bling.

    General railway discussions

We used to live just up the road from that spot, back when the line was still active - barely.

    Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

I'm no soothsayer but I'm not sure I would writing a eulogy for the BCR just yet. Municipalities reviewing assets isn't new. A number have sold off their stake in electrical utilities for a one-time cash infusion. I recall previous councils reviewing its role in the BCR. In the most recent...
