To my knowledge, Nippon Sharyo has basically exited the NA market so it's probably optimal to find someone else for newer rolling stock, and also to my knowledge the current trains have not been great maintenance wise. No public knowledge if they are seeking new rolling stock though. Probably...
Perhaps this is part of it? I don't see why MX would remove the 4th track instead of letting it rot as it has for years and elsewhere, unless they are planning a total rail replacement there.
Would have to agree, I also can't see Metrolinx doing so either given their focus on safety and the amount of grade separations they are performing. The whole rail corridor along Hamilton pretty much needs to be grade separated, which given MX would be lots of $$$ and lots of time... But it...
I see. It was my understanding the TTC implemented a 15kmh speed limit across switches due to the possibility of derailment on SPS. Do they plan to remove this restriction for newly installed SPS?
This question has probably been asked and answered before so I apologize in advance- but from what i can tell from the first pic, they seem to be installing single-point switches? (Correct me if I am wrong, it is hard to see!)
Why is the TTC installing SPS on new rail installation?
There is absolutely work on adding more track to the Barrie Line last I rode it last summer, both south of Caledonia GO and north of Caledonia GO, and even recently there have been posts on movement occurring under Dundas when the Barrie line splits from KI/MI/UPX. Confusingly, however, every...
I personally believe there's a very strong ridership argument for Hamilton and Niagara, however anything inbetween like Grimsby or St. Catharines would probably be some form of loss.
Obviously it's hard to extrapolate data and determine ridership, but as of 2023 it looks like this
Hamilton...
Is this rendering missing the faregates? I hope so or else I'm not sure why they made this loop for seemingly no reason when they could have just put the escalators in front
Maybe i am spoiled with how shallow and easy to get to platform level the C&C stations are...
I was under the impression that the work had already been finished. I wonder what they will be doing.
"There will likely be additional closures for the upcoming weekends of May 22-25th and May 29-June 1st. A separate notice will be issued for these works once confirmed." Two more future...
A couple things can be true.
1. Constantly kicking out the mentally ill & homeless is not a long term solution
2. These people are the source of the majority to overwhelming majority of passenger incidents on the TTC
3. Discouraging the use of the TTC as a "moving homeless shelter" will improve...
this health card discussion is off topic and annoying to me and as much as id like to say something id rather stop this discussion
Regardless, its not easy to measure the cost-benefits of more fare enforcement. How much can we reasonably reduce fare evasion? How much can we bring in in fines...
Though i understand the "Some of this is unrecoverable" its important to note this is only the measureable 1st order effects... Not 2nd order and unmeasureable effects
Like others have mentioned, it influences others not to pay, and non-payers make up the bulk of less-than-ideal behaviour on...
yeah?
Boring Company currently does 12 ft diameter (3.6m), Glasgow subway operates in 11 ft and some London underground at 11 ft 8
Obviously on the extreme end though. Probably not possible here due to far more stringent escape requirements
