Because it's a new year, one of those things I've always wondered about but never really raised anywhere. I do land at Billy Bishop from time to time, and taking the Bathurst car north is always convenient -- except that the slight hike between the airport and the closest Bathurst streetcar stop...
Fair but, in truth, the idea I'm floating is a bit different: two lines. One is the Ontario Line whose northern terminus is at Eglinton. The other is the RH line whose southern terminus would now be at Eglinton. You'd need good physical integration for those continuing on in either direction...
I'm not on here very much any more and this may have been beaten to death, but in case it hasn't been --
Rather than an alternative to the Line 1 extension, wouldn't the RH line be better renovated as (a) the northern half of the Ontario line, with a smooth interchange at Eglinton, provided (b)...
How cool would it be for them to work with the city to actually install metal outlines right on the street, with plaques at streetside explaining what's going on?
I think this has been happening for a while -- here's a Vancouver version from a couple of years ago, and iirc I've seen signs looking for recruits for this in Toronto.
Off-topic, but where I'd really like to see this model is with empty-nesters in suburban homes -- intensify the property to...
(Would love to see a way to build the terminal out a bit, into the current parking lot, and dip the Harbourfront and Bathurst streetcar routes down to the built-out terminal's front door.)
This is spot-on imho. Thinking back to my days as a GO train commuter some years ago (Rutherford on the Barrie line), what I was constantly wishing for was a café and a gym or maybe a public library on-site -- instead of fighting for a place in line to exit the station, I'd gladly have offset...
I love that they kept and restored the facade, but I'm a bit surprised not see the combined shebang rise a few storeys higher to create a unifying element set back a bit behind it. The area could certainly stand the density.
Hey, no fair. The Barrie line stops at Downsview Park on the University-Spadina line and is to add stops on the Eglinton LRT (Caledonia), Bloor-Danforth line (Lansdowne), and at Spadina and Front. The Richmond Hill line stops, in theory, at the Sheppard line (Leslie-Oriole), although that's...
