Another beauty Mustapha. Too bad they couldn't leave the original railing's on any of the houses.
On my 1928 house the original railings lasted up until 2005 when they looked decidely tatty and it was time for them to go.

Now and Then for Oct 11.
Hard to believe this state of affairs still exists. There is several feet of water down there. This picture I took in May. I walked by a month ago and the situation was unchanged - in fact it was worse, the chain link fence had a gap in it big enough for a child to squeeze through.
Then. 'April 24, 1913. 1464 to 1478 Dufferin Street.'

Thanks for those source photos, brewster.
The panorama created in 1906 is amazing
- particularly the original Woodbine racetrack and Ashbridges Bay before the landfill.

There was no point in taking the now south photos as usual , too many trees.

The original railings are still in place on this Donlands Ave. house after more than eighty years.

This discussion brought back a scary memory of early childhood: getting my knee stuck in the porch railings when visiting my grandparents' house on Sparkhall (off Broadview) when I was about three or four. Solution: sawing part way through the opposite side of one of the rails till it eased. The crack must have been filled with "plastic wood". According to Google StreetView the railings are still there.
I fell off a stepladder when I was four; lights out for 48 hours... no lasting damage.
