Why is it that only 40-foot buses (or 12-metre for those metrically inclined) can use the lane? Artics (60-foot, translates to 18-metre) have slightly better turning radii.

What's with the blocked-off part of the ramp? Is that for buses coming off the transitway? Will artics then be able to use the bus lane (one would hope!)? I would have also wanted to see transit signals (black signal heads) like those the TTC and Brampton use for their exclusive phases rather than the awkward standard signals at Centre View and Rathburn.

NEXT SERVICE CHANGE - Oct. 24, 2011.

All information is subject to change without notice.

Not bad.

The biggest gain in this service change is route 45. The cut at 45 makes sense as 45A is already redundant with 42 and 57 for the Financial area. 45 will now get 30-minute midday service instead of 38. And also, increasing Saturday service will balance the frequencies for the weekends as 45 only gets 60 minute service during Saturdays, yet at Sundays, they get 45-minute service.

3 getting midday increase is good news out there, making it as frequent as Burnhamthorpe.

4's cut at Huron Park during the said times make sense as the facility is closed outside of those hours.

10 is getting 26-27 minute midday service, not 30.

The added trip at 101 is good news since "rush hour" at UTM actually starts at 2 pm.

21-minute rush hour service for Terragar is good as they receive horrible 35-minute rush hour service today. 90's Sunday cut for Copenhagen is a little sad, but they gotta pack those Saturday buses to justify bringing them back. Also 90 gets 40-minute midday service, not the advertised 35 minutes, making it as "frequent" as 65.

I'm not impressed with the routing of the 90 - it is a far cry from the 16 and 36. The loop probably should just have been merged with the overly short and under-utilized 48.

The improvement for 10 is minimal at best, but for great for 45. The previous service cuts have been reversed (45 had 45 minute frequency on Saturdays before). I'm surprised service to Financial has been cut, but I guess it's kind of redundant with the 42 and 57.

The 103 still annoys me a lot. It should be 102, or better yet just remain 202 and designate it and 201 as Express as they should have been all along.

So this new transfer rule that they are implementing, I am confused about...

As of the 6th, I would no longer be able to swap my MT transfer for a Oakville Transit/Brampton Transit one and vice versa.

Is that correct?

When you present an Oakville or Brampton transfer to a Mississauga driver you can board but you cannot get a new one.

When you present a Mississauga transfer to an Oakville driver you can board but you cannot get a new one.

When you present a Mississauga transfer to a Brampton you can board but you it does not say what happens next (safe to assume that you will not be able to get a new one.

Best bet is to get a GTA weekly pass or use a PRESTO card where a you can freely transfer and continue your trip until your time is up (did it today, worked fine in situations where they were very clear that a paper transfer would NOT work).

Not issuing new transfer is not a big deal, that's the way it should be. The thing is, they accept other system's transfers at any location on any route??? Is this a new policy? I thought it was just where the service connect or overlap.

And apparently MT, Burlington Transit and HSR accept each other's transfers. I seriously didn't know that.

But I wonder why MT will not accept Brampton Transit passes but they will still accept Oakville Transit passes. Maybe there is some behind the scene conflict we don't know about.

The simple answer to Frankie: No. The swaps stop. What it will mean is that if you have a Brampton transfer, hold on to it when boarding Mississauga Transit; it will be accepted on a second MT bus as long as time remains on it.

The advice to get a GTA pass is ridiculous. They are bloody expensive and they are only great for going between TTC (that will not enter any transfer agreement) and 905 systems. The alternative of buying GTA passes should not be offered as sop by Mississauga Transit because they unilaterally decided not to allow their passholders to continue to enjoy transfer benefits to Brampton Transit (including their new 502 service that replaces MT's 102) or Oakville. Note Brampton will still offer transfers to passholders to get the free transfer to Mississauga.

Though Presto is useful; but it does not solve the passholder's new conundrum.

The problem with passes is that they are only accepted where the two systems intersect. For the return trip, the rider will still need to pay the fare of the other system, which makes the pass pretty useless anyways. So no matter what, there's still a major problem. One system's transit pass would only be useful for regular cross-border travel if both systems accept that pass on any route at any location.

Personally, I think the each system other accepting each others systems' transfers anywhere without restrictions is good, but they should have done the same for passes.

Hurontario service realignment and Square One platform shuffle started today!

What I found out today:

Reactions
- Despite the month-long promotion, a few Mississauga passengers got frustrated when they took the 19, which doesn't go to Brampton anymore.
- Many 103 passengers thought that the route was 102 extended to Port Credit, leaving them disappointed when it bypassed the Rathburn ramp. They were dropped off at Robert Speck.

Help/Wayfinding
- MiWay representatives were running around the terminal to check if someone is at the wrong platform. During my time, a passenger was waiting for the 26 at where the MiExpress and Zum buses stop.
- Peel Police was at Square One to assist passengers with the shuffle and Zum.
- MiWay signs served by 502 (including Square One) also have the route affixed to it with a red background.

Loading
- 103 carries a perfect load, even during the midday! Was totally surprised about that.
- 19+ had a significantly lighter load north of Square One. Many passengers migrated to 502 (other than the passholders).

Scheduling
- 103 had no idling and slowing down. Really impressed with that.
- The increase in the 19 is not noticeable, because it is already very frequent.

Other routes
- Passengers in the 20 (notably the seniors) looked at one another when the bus turned right at Centre View Drive.
- 66 was understandable as it has to be near the Sheridan Mississauga campus.
- The overcrowding at 110 is not surprising.

You need to read the whole budget report to see where service needs to be cut as well
increase. This will be the 12th year in a role that MT riders have seen fare
increase with very little in the way of service improvement.

I support the staff report and planning on making a few recommendations for
service cuts/changes. I will also be making recommendations where service needs
to improve to gain new ridership.

The full breakdown for MT routes are listed for 7 days of the week and to bad
TTC does not do this.

Route ranking has not change much over the years to what we have today.

A fair number of routes ridership are about the same, as there is no place for
growth for them due to low density development area in the first place. These
areas are very old and the NIMBY's refused to increase the density in the first
place.

I also confused! Is the Mississauga Light Rail Transit still happening?

Or will it be a Buses Now?

I expect not to see LRT until 2030 now and have to deal with this stupid plan for 19.

The contract for the consultant should be awarded now hopeful, to start the 2.5 year EA studies for the LRT.

The earliest you could see construction started on this LRT is 2015 if funding is found and would start at the 407, since that is the location of the carhouse.

Brampton would see service first follow by Sq One and then Port Credit.
