Wow, a 170k sq ft Eataly in Rome! I'll need to check it out when I'm there. In Italy I've only been to the Bologna store - multi-levels (about 5) but fairly narrow. I bought a cinghale (boar) ragu there - loved it and was disappointed when I couldn't (still can't) find it here. I guess boars are too exotic for Canadian tastes.
I spent a month in Rome while on parental leave, and somehow didn't make it there. Though we lived close to Termini, which has a really nice market (and there's a real market almost next door).

November 25th. More than the gnocchi, I’m looking forward to the Nordstrom replacement project being complete. Having access from the right of the corridor will open up the space.

Agreed. It was so awesome when Nordstrom arrived. And then they didn't seem to last much longer in Canada than Target ugh
Glad to see these empty spaces filled again

Honestly not sure what’s going on with this lower glass. They cut into 2 more parts.

Fixing this two toned glass will improve the cohesiveness of this three store façade.

How it looked before they had to do repairs:

Meanwhile outside, Eataly is all ready to open.

Apropos, the outdoor concave green tile should’ve been used in the interior galleria. It has this glistening jewel-like reflective property vs the light sucking green of the flat tile inside.

Eataly was open today for a pre-opening event. The hoarding is still covering the interior entrance but the door frequently opened to let in invited guests. Looks fantastic! Very warm tones with wooden slats. The entrance next to Simon’s is more of a continuation of the corridor that leads to an escalator up. It’ll really open up the space.

Not sure I would consider Eataly opening as part of the renewal. I was under the impression this thread was more for the ceiling window replacement (almost complete), escalator replacement (not complete and will continue after the holidays) and entrance upgrades etc. There is another Eaton's Centre thread for retail opening. Just my thoughts.

I would absolutely argue that this is part of the renewal. This isn’t just a store opening. The entire north end of the Eaton Centre was reconfigured to build a new flagship corner and new access points to Dundas and to Yonge. Mall traffic will filter out through Simons to the Dundas Atrium and soon through Eataly to Yonge street. Eataly’s ground floor will feel part of the mall, not just another store. It will all make sense once this opens in a few days.

I hope the renewal eventually addresses the gap—not in leases, but in aesthetics—from roughly Queen to 250 Yonge.”

If I recall from spelunking through development applications on the city website, there was (is?) a proposal to build towers south of 250 Yonge on the parkade. That's probably on ice with the condo downturn, but it won't be long before it re-emerges.

There is no such proposal. Years ago Cad Fairview mused about doing one on the corner of Queen and Yonge, but that was iced for the office project that has since been constructed.
