Toronto Bike Share

They really could use some at more GO stations...obvious ones near cycling paths off the top of my head in the east end...

Eglinton
Agincourt
Kennedy
Milliken
I've been wanting a Bike Share station at Kennedy GO forever. There have been multiple times where I've wanted to transfer between Scarborough GO and Kennedy GO to go east, and biking between the two is the fastest way to do it.

Edit: also GO Bus locations/stations could prove beneficial...
Kipling would be nice too, though at least they're getting somewhat closer now.

Sigh the lack of bikes in Midtown every morning is the only reason I would not recommend a neighbour to rely on the system for commuting.

My employer is not too picky if I am a bit late in the morning, but today I walked twenty minutes for the last bike in the area just to be beaten to it by thirty seconds. Now I am stranded in a bike desert. Feeling like griping over what is unfortunately a common experience using the system.

There are 5 stations within a 5 minute walk from me, the problem is squarely one of distribution.

Yes, the balancing is getting worse and worse and it is really not uncommon to be faced with empty docks if one wants a bike and full ones when you want to park one. I am an 'original' BS Member and it has never been this bad. Having the app does help but .... Time to put some $$ and people into bike balancing!!!

I think they've said they will have a user incentive program to help with balancing but need some system enablers first to be able to do this. Maybe this explains the lack of urgency on hiring staff to do the same.

Earlier this year I think it was CBC had a segment/interview with a higher up with bike share and they said this is part of their 3-5 year strategy/plan

It is, on paper.

But Green P has been more obstructive than helpful as the ultimate bosses here.

Justin Hanna left as Bikeshare Director (Director of Micro Mobility), Asheligh Berger has been in that role since in an acting capacity. Nothing is going anywhere w/o someone (Ash or someone else) being permanent in that job.

The odds of Green P delivering 'on-time' (belatedly) are not good.

I didn't say they're going to, just that it's part of their plan LOL

I usually take a midtown bike in the afternoon and it is not that dire. But I save myself the aggravation and throw in the towel pretty quick and hop on the subway. It is nice to play on your phone sometimes and you can't do that while biking :)

Just at a curiosity, is there a timeframe for when Bike Share Toronto will finalize their 2026-30 growth plan? Even with the impressive growth surge over the past few years, there are still some critical gaps to fill. Especially in Etobicoke.

I was under the impression that it would be in the budget submission for this year.

If that's the case, it really should be on the Parking Authority Agenda for October 16, the meeting after that is December 5.
