the residences on Owen will probably get one soon, because they had a huge drilling machine which they used to drill the big hole. And it’s gone now, and there’s work trucks, materials, and construction men. And there has been some work already started on it. I hope that clears it up for you, apologies for not being clearer. And if a crane goes up I’ll know pretty quickly, and I’ll be able to let you know and grab some photos. I’m always walking around downtown Barrie.

Yep that is definitely pretty vacant I think we are in for a bit of a building lull was around the area Collingwood/Wasaga/blue mountain My normal morning drive that I do to check things out goes through five different subdivisions that are currently under construction of those subdivisions the only one that is currently even building foundations is here in Meaford It even looks like Barrie has taken a bit of a hit when I've been down that way
 
I pretty much notice that all of the housing starts in our area have ground to a halt whether they be condos or single-family homes rentals are going up but that's about it
 
Finally an update, I drove past today and saw workers and machines here. They have started the foundations. It’s hard to get a photo that shows the work they’ve started on but I’ll be back in the near future when there’s hopefully more to see.

Progress has been slow on a major seniors housing development in downtown Barrie, but the project is set for a summer 2027 opening.

The Residences on Owen, located at 55-57 McDonald Street, 61-67 Owen Street, and 70-78 Worsley Street, held its official groundbreaking ceremony in September 2023.

Originally expected to open in 2026, the timeline has been pushed back. Bruce Stewart of Traditions Development Company said several key factors have contributed to the limited construction activity over the past year.
 
Slow? More like absolutely no work done in the past year, they’re not finishing that by 2027. It’s almost 2026 and all they have is a hole in the ground.
