Toronto isn't too bad, but there are still too many vehicles and too many routes where a car is easier and faster to take (Ontario Line will help a ton with this!). Banning parking on streetcar and bus routes unfortunately doesn't remove Ubers, delivery vehicles, etc.

Toronto's network is ok downtown but it doesn't have anything like Schonhauser Allee which as a non-terminus, non-station intersection has street-level trams and buses, elevated metro subway, and underground regional trains at one intersection. I guess the equivalent would be if we added a buried GO Line go through Yonge-Dundas.

Then there's Doug Ford. Ford is vowing to keep the cut to gas tax if re-elected. Also if re-elected, a PC government would also ban congestion pricing in the province. Both negative for public transit in general.

Is there even anyone in the booth monitoring the cameras anymore? I thought collectors have to roam the concourse now.

I can't speak to the specifics here, but generally most collectors do wander and spend time outside the booth, but they also have access to the booth for warmth/cool (in summer) or security. Most, in my experience are about 1/2 in, 1/2 out.

How often do you actually see graffiti on the TTC?

I certainly don't see it very often at all. It's big and very visible and makes for a very obvious target and therefore gets cleaned up quickly. It is scratchitti that is the insiduous, difficult to fight pest, because it's so difficult to spot.

Very rarely, which is why this isn't a big deal whatsoever.

The pictures I posted of Berlin's transit system feature buildings covered in graffiti. It's not a big deal.

They do an incredible job of remediation once reported, usually anything is gone the day after I report it.

Any tags discovered on vehicles are immediately shunt away from the public to discourage the behaviour. Even if they couldn’t clean it in time, it’ll just hide back in the yard.
Usually this would be discovered in the morning after overnight break ins so it’s not too hard to do.
