That grey building on the northwest corner is brand new. They had just started putting up the frame as the Ontario Line was announced. For some unexplainable reason they continued construction to completion, even though it's going to be knocked down within a year or 2. What a waste of money and material. The whole time the OL was progressing I kept hoping to see construction stop, but it never did.
Heard from somewhere the guy is gonna sue the city. Don't think thatll turn out good, but again not sure if this is 100% true if anyone wants to back me up on that statement

You mean sue the province? The city has nothing to do with the Ontario Line.

I'm sure you know better. I heard city, but again this is just words I've heard from multiple people that aren't really into this stuff but more so just hear about it. Regardless of city or province though I don't think it's gonna go well for him if he does pursue

The lawyers involved will be happy though...

I also recently heard that the residents at Minton Place took the expropiation to court and lost. This information was from the security patrolling the houses. Not sure if that's even a forum on the website

So the developer is listed as Infrastructure Ontario? Are they in the business of building condos? or will they flip this whole project to a development company?

I like the change in architectural style (more bolder/colorful than the original, and breaking up the massing horizontally), and the addition of park space, though I preferred the original heights/peaks (if not on top of a station then where). I don't know if the architectural style in the drawings will have any impact on what is actually built here (I presume it goes to a Toronto developer/builder that will Toronto it with the typical dose of grey, black, white, fritted balconies, pale blue glass, and a severe amount of back-painted spandrel), but, in the very unlikely event that the color/style on the SVN designs/drawings actually means anything with respect to what is ultimately built on these TOC sites, I do like to see the color on these drawings, and hope that it makes its ways to updated plans at the other TOC drawings/sites

Way better than the original plan in terms of architecture and height. It’s more appropriate for the location and I’m glad they didn’t go with the usual gray black or white

The model is to engage with a Private development partner, but there hasn’t been much positive response to their RFPs that have been on the street for the last couple of years.

Essentially, the initial Ontario Line plan was that the “Sale of the Development Rights above the Stations” would help to generate payback on some of the Provincial Government’s investment in the new stations and infrastructure.

That model has NOT worked-out since the pre-sale “Condo Futures” market has collapsed in Toronto, so the ToC’s are now having to pivot to Designs that work better for Purpose-Built Rental developers.

Time will tell if these projects are able to proceed under that model without additional government supports.
