Just over 50 kilometres southwest of Toronto's bustling central waterfront as the crow flies, competitive pricing and picturesque views are drawing condominium buyers to Grimsby, where a number of new condo developments are taking shape along the town's waterfront. Among this new wave of waterfront housing, construction of LJM DevelopmentsWaterview Condominiums has been steadily progressing along the North Service Road of the QEW since construction began in mid-2015. In the time since, the Icon Architects-designed development has risen its full 9 storeys, topping off in June 2016.

Installation of the building's elevators is scheduled to begin this week, as well as the installation of the first cladding. Preparation work for the start of cladding installation has been underway since July, when the first elements of framing and wall components were installed over the south facade. This sheathing now covers almost all of the south face, with narrow punched sections marking the location of future windows: on the side facing the highway, there won't be suites, just hallways. Framing the interior walls will come next.

A single-storey volume on the north side of the building will eventually host the outdoor residential amenity terrace. Overlooking Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline, it will include features like a fire pit, trees, planters, and sheltered areas for shade. Forming for this space's concrete elements is now largely complete, with the image below showing the pouring of the eastern half of the floor slab.

Another element currently underway is the installation of paving along the north side of the site, which will include roadway access to both Lakelawn Road and the driveway connecting with the project's below-grade parking garage. With 90% of the project's units sold and construction moving into its late stages, occupancy for the project is on track to commence this coming Winter.

Waterview's under-construction first phase will be followed by a second phase to the east, featuring a variation on the design with a terraced section offering lake views. With sales for this second phase progressing swiftly, excavation of the site is currently scheduled to begin this month.
