New residents continue to move into One Park Place, the most recently completed market condominium by The Daniels Corporation in the five-phase revitalization of Toronto's Regent Park community. Consisting of 24 and 29-storey towers joined by a shared podium, the Hariri Pontarini Architects-designed development has brought hundreds of new homes to the area, and new retail spaces will soon bring even more life to the base of this development.

The first retail space set to open at One Park Place is a new location for Shoppers Drug Mart, slated to open its doors in late September. The store occupies the prime corner spot where Dundas Street meets Regent Park Boulevard and its expansive pedestrian plaza. Shoppers will eventually be joined by more several retailers, some to the south along the plaza and some east along Dundas.

The addition of street-fronting retailers is an important part of the Regent Park Revitalization, helping to activate sidewalks while providing vital neighbourhood amenities. One Park Place's location—near major community hubs like the Daniels Spectrum, the Regent Park Aquatic Centre, the soon-to-open Regent Park Community Centre, and the neighbourhood's namesake, the large central park—provides great foot traffic to support retail.

The completed two-tower complex will soon be joined by even more development, as work begins on the next market condo project, The Bartholomew, now in its early stages of construction a short distance to the west of One Park Place. Though the 13-storey, Quadrangle Architects-designed development only entered its marketing phase this past Spring, it is already almost completely sold out.

With Phase One of Regent Park complete, Phase Two now mostly built, and the first components of Phase Three now under way, planning is getting going for following Phase Three buildings including one at the northwest corner of the community at Parliament and Gerrard Streets. After several more years building out Phase Three, two more phases will complete the Regent Park rebuild, shared between The Daniels Corporation and Toronto Community Housing Corporation buildings.
