Despite the colder weather rolling in, construction crews are still hard at work on scads of developments throughout the city. One of these, CHAZ Yorkville Condos, located on Charles Street East, has seen steadily growing since we last visited it a month ago. In that time construction has progressed beyond the podium’s five-floor structure, with work now underway on the tower's floorplates, giving us our first look at how this building's unique angles will gradually fill out the space.

The 47-storey condominium by developer 45 Charles Ltd. and project manager Edenshaw Homes, now has two tower floorplates complete with the third to be finished soon. We can now see with greater clarity how the Page + Steele/ IBI Group Architects design transitions the uniquely faceted octagonal floorplate from the rectangular podium. The tower's shape is an homage to the 45° angles of the Macy Dubois-designed brutalist structure which formerly stood on this property.

When construction has wrapped up, CHAZ Yorkville Condos will offer its residents a wealth of amenities, including intimate lounge areas, a two-sided fireplace, a robust garden area, an indoor/outdoor dining area with a barbecues, a billiards room, a gaming room, plus a fantastic two-storey entertainment space perched more than thirty storeys over the city.
