Rising on the corner of Richmond and Duncan on a plot of land that was previously a parking lot, is Studio and Studio2 on Richmond by Aspen Ridge Homes. The condominium development is located in the Entertainment District near the bustling Queen West shopping street, in close proximity to Osgoode subway station.
Work on the site has progressed steadily over the busy summer season, and we have construction across the entire site now, since the presentation centre was taken down early this year. Last time we reported on the project, crews were preparing to excavate the site of Studio 2 where the presentation centre once stood. Recent photos by Forum contributor Indrid Cold shows that excavation in that southwest corner of the site is complete (the pit walls can be seen to the left of the buff-coloured building in the image below), while construction is now rising above street level across the rest of the site.
When complete, the condominium complex will consist of two Quadrangle Architects-designed towers rising above their podiums to 31 and 41 storeys. Complete with amenities that reflect the site's location in the entertainment district, the amenities will include nightclub-inspired party and media lounges, billiards room, and a multifunctional dining space. Catering to the artistically-inclined, Studio on Richmond's 9-storey podium will also house an 8,000 sq. ft. space which will be home to a street-level art gallery featuring works from Ontario College of Art and Design (OCADU) students, faculty, and alumni.
