A new mixed-use condominium development is coming to the southwest corner of Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue, a spot that will feature a station on the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT line. 'The Hub' Condos are just the kind of development envisioned by the City for intensification at these new tansport hubs, and Empire Communities is one of the smart developers to get there while lower land prices can be passed on to consumers through generously scaled suites. While this is virgin territory when it comes to new condos, but rapid transit at your Eglinton Avenue door will make the building an obvious choice for smart buyers.
The design by E.I. Richmond Architects boasts a central 16-storey tower, and an 8-storey podium along Eglinton Avenue. Retail will front the street here, adding the the mix of shops and restaurants that make this stretch quite an eclectic delight. Right at the corner of Eglinton and Oakwood, The Hub wraps around a handsome heritage bank building, now a Pizza Pizza location.
The building's design is pretty much that of a good neighbour all round: besides the retail extending the shopping strip on Eglinton, a good number of spots from the existing Green P parking lot currently on site will be incorporated into the parking at The Hub. The building also meets the single family homes along its south and west sides on Lanark Avenue with a three-storey arm, a friendly transition to neighbourhood scale.
Nestled at the bottom of the tower and podium, and behind the green roof of the Lanark Avenue arm, the building will have an amenity terrace with a southern view with places to barbecue, to eat, and to kick back and relax.
The building comes with a good number of amenities including an Entertainment and Party Room, connected to a special demonstration kitchen, called the D.I.Y. Kitchen, and an attached Dining Room. There's a gym to keep fit in, with weight training and exercise machines, as well as a yoga pialtes studio. A pair of guest suites round out the offerings so that your visitors have a handy place stay overnight.
The suites are a good size. You'll be able to fit a king-size bed in many of the bedrooms in fact, something that's increasingly rare in tighter spaces in the core. We'll be back with another story showing you the attractive model suites soon.
In the meantime, check out the renderings in our dataBase entry, linked below, to get a good idea of the amenities and building finishes. Leave a comment on this page if you wish, or join the discussion in our associated Forum threads.
