The building and development industry celebrated the best in design, construction, sales and marketing at the 33rd annual BILD Awards on Friday, April 26. Over 1,100 industry professionals attended the event, which recognized the Greater Toronto Area’s best in 48 distinct categories ranging from architectural design to ad campaigns. We take a look at some of the highlights of Friday’s award show below, with a full list of 2013’s award recipients listed at the end of the article.

Tridel, known for current projects such as the Hullmark Centre and 300 Front Street West, was awarded the prestigious Home Builder of the Year award based on the company’s focus on quality, customer service, innovation and commitment to green building, industry leadership and partnerships, and contributions to the community.

One of the major factors in the judging process was a customer satisfaction survey, completed by recent occupants of the builder’s residential projects. The Home Builder of the Year award was established by BILD in 1998 to recognize the builder who sets the standard for the rest of the industry by their leadership in improving the overall image of the industry. This award comes hot on the heels of Tridel's High-Rise Builder of the Year Award, won at last week's Tarion Awards.

This year’s Green Builder of the Year awards were awarded to the Minto Group and Times Group. Minto was recognized in the low-rise sector for its belief in the power of collaboration, continuous improvement and reducing environmental impacts through green initiatives.

In the high-rise category, Times Group was rewarded for its commitment to sustainability and for adopting green construction practices and technologies for their projects. The company develops sustainable communities and provides support to local ecological conservation groups.

One of the biggest winners in last Friday’s BILD Awards was the proposed Massey Tower, by MOD Developments. The Hariri Pontarini-designed project took home a total of four awards including Project of the Year, Best High-Rise Building Design, Best High-Rise Sales Office and Best Model Suite.
