With several projects under construction, and even more proposals in the works, development in Downtown’s burgeoning Southcore district has heated to a boiling point. Just south of the corner of York and Bremner, the de-facto epicentre of the south-core, Ïce Condominiums at York Centre has been receiving a lot of attention on UrbanToronto as the 67 and 57-storey towers continue their climb skyward.

Developed by Lanterra in partnership with Cadillac Fairview, Ïce Condos features a sleek, Scandinavian-inspired design by architectsAlliance. The west tower, soon to top off at 57 storeys (202 metres) will contain 602 condominium units while the taller east tower (234 metres) will contain 743, for a whopping combined number of 1,345 units. Both towers, as well as the planned 32-storey office building, will be connected by a unique green-roofed podium—complete with PATH connection—which gently follows the curve formed by ramps to the Gardiner Expressway.

In a part of the city formerly dominated by surface parking and warehouses, Ïce Condos is just one of the dozens of projects currently reshaping the area into a thriving mixed use, high-density community. We will be sure to check back for updates as these projects continue to change the face of our city and skyline.
