Toronto Nautilus Condos | ?m | 39s | Biddington | Graziani + Corazza

We're back for more, looking at Nautilus in its local context, with a focus on its tinted balcony glazing. Let's get right into that.

This is the green glazing, arriving on site...

while this is the blue glazing, "azuria", a 1/4 inch tempered glass from Toro Aluminum Railings, riding the hoist.

From the mouth of the Mimico Creek, Nautilus appears in front of earlier phases at Monarch's Waterview community.

The lower portions of the tower now has its balcony railing. The green glass is being installed to the land side of the 'sail', the curving form created by notches in the balconies. The lake side, of the building is greeting the blue glazing. The difference is easiest to spot at either side where you can see through the glazing to the overcast sky behind. Of note: one land side balcony on the 5th floor (3rd from the bottom of the photo) has the wrong glazing: it's blue. This was installed early as a test.

Here's a close-up on either side of the sail, with the test install at bottom left.

Here's a look at a full sail, this time on the northeast side of the tower.

A final look at the blue glazing, this time at the east corner of the building, where the notched floor plate allows for multiple corner units.

So, let's slowly back away from the building to get a look at its northeast side from various vantage points in the area. This view looks though earlier Waterview phases to Nautilus.

@i42, great photos as usual. thanks for sharing!

by any chance do you have photos of the waterfront/lake views to the west, atop the nautilus? (i.e. hamilton/niagara)

If they wanted it to evoke the image of a sail and not a boob in a green bikini, they should have used fritted ceramic glass on the land-side balconies. Add a cool mast-like detail running up the North face and now you're cookin'

Something like this would have been more nautical:

Thanks CD!

The day we were up top was too overcast for good long distance views, so no, I don't have what you're looking for, sorry! I will put up some shots of other local projects in their own threads soon though.

Does anyone have any idea what has been proposed for development for the waterfront land south of the Lagos Monarch 49s building?
Does anyone one have any pricing information for this new Monarch condo development?
