Toronto Malibu Harbourfront Condo | ?m | 32s | Malibu Investments | P + S / IBI

just noticed from these pics that the 8th and 9th floor units in the podium along Lakeshore look like double floor lofts with floor to ceiling glass ... ah well atleast I can daydream.

Anyone have any updates on this bad boy?

First floor residents were scheduled to move in Mar 10, and then saw a three to four week delay. Should be early to mid April. I wonder if they will be able to meet this date? Thoughts?

Can you really compare this to the Hudson? Really, these units were priced at probably 30% less than units at the Hudson. For a building where units were as cheap as they were, i'm surprised the quality is equivalent, if not better than ROCP.

It reeks of cheap design, materials and craftsmanship.

It reeks of craftsmanship?

I'm sorry guys but how can any of you possibly state with a straight face that this is anywhere near an attractive building?

Because yours is a subjective opinion, too.

I'm asking if anyone here honestly believes that this is an attractive building. I think that ROCP is an infinitely better looking building and more importantly it fits perfectly in the context of Yonge and College. Minto Midtown looks very low-rent as finished but also seems to enhance the area that it occupies.

This building is simply ugly and cheap looking, in my subjective opinion. It sticks out like an eye sore and yes, REEKS of cheap craftsmanship.

craftsman(ship) - noun

realestatejunkie, your template of forum posts is even smaller than Are Be's was. Do you have anything constructive to say?

I'd say it's way better than ROCP. Malibu is a safe but solid design. The design of ROCP is just....confused.

Must be unfortunate not to have buildings that exclusively suit your tastes.

If you find that the craftsmanship reeks, maybe you suffer from synesthesia.

So tantalizingly close yet so far away...

...not surprising, since Malibu is light years away from downtown Toronto. Yet today, I saw a mirage:

See the difference between Toronto (Sixty lofts in the foreground) and Malibu?

While I don't find the building ugly as you do, I agree that condoporn marketing names are all too often juvenile.

The difference is that owners occupy Sixty and Malibu is occupied by renters or vacant space.

not sure exactly how Sixty differs so much from other downtown developments which average 70% investors . And, does it really matter if the investors are foreign or local? (well, I'd rather have foreigners lose their shirts to us than us lose their shirts to other us)

The building isn't an eyesore, I'm not sure why you are making such a big deal about it. Sure, it could be considered vanilla, but far from ugly in my opinion.

Why are we back on the topic of foreign investors, wasn't this discussed enough already?

Apparently caveatemptor's axe needs grinding again.
