Even with the UPX going to the airport, Metrolinx has talked about a line from Kipling to the airport. As to what is still debatable.

Maybe they are referring to this.

Don't mean to bump an old thread but there has been what looks like movement from Metrolinx on this. New tender put out on Merx for services related to preparing for an RFP it seems. Posted Date: January 30, 2015. Tender closes February 19,2015.

Looking back at post #1, the station transformation was supposed to be finished by 2010...what happened?!

I guess now they'll wait for the Six Points reconfiguration to be complete?

Six Points has noting to due with this mess, but Hydro One does.

Then TTC and the city failure to take the line to Cloverdale as proposed in 2005 & 8, since this is the Big Move Hub Gateway location in the first place. Blame Metrolinx for that.

Current date was 2017 and now 2019, but maybe 2020 will be the date.

TTC needs to move 90% of the bus service to a larger terminal at Cloverdale, since Kipling is too small for them years ago.

This is such a waste of money - Kipling is not a natural terminus. Take the subway to Sherway.

Sherway will be more wasted money than Kipling with very few riders going there.

Colverdale is all that is needed for the next 50 years before going into Mississauga.

It could be worth extending the subway to Sherway if this development ever gets built: http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/showth...ensway-(Fima-Developments-3-x-27s-Quadrangle)

Subway extension to Cloverdale and then Sherway would open up a lot of opportunities. One large benefit would be ample parking areas (Kipling gets filled up quite early and some of the Islington lots are being removed).

I don't think the subway would ever be extended to Mississauga as they would never be able to afford it (unlike Vaughan).

The ideal is all academic at this stage given Islington is falling apart and no one is planning an extension right this second. Kipling simply has to happen.

In the short term, Cloverdale makes sense. The station could have dedicated connections to the 427 onramps, and this would improve miWay express and TTC rocket services.

IMO, Honeydale is a more appropriate terminus than Cloverdale. The site is drastically underused, and it abuts the rail corridor on the back end of the site. This would allow for the TTC and GO to build a fully integrated terminus without the need for significant tunnelling. For a connection to Cloverdale Mall, you could build a covered pedestrian walkway, much like what exists between the northern bus loop of Place d'Orleans Station and the mall over top of the 174 in Ottawa. Not AS convenient as having the station at Cloverdale, but it would reduce construction costs, allow for a more integrated terminal, and would have more convenient extension options.

I consider Honeydale and Cloverdale the same thing when it comes to discussing this topic, as they're right across the street from each other and most people aren't familiar with Honeydale, but they know where Cloverdale is.

In actuality, where the station would be located will probably depend more on CP, land availability, and decisions about which way to orient the station for a potential future extension than which mall is chosen as the focus.

But yes, an extension to Honeydale/Cloverdale with dedicated ramps to/from the 427 would offer SERIOUS travel time savings to thousands of TTC and MiWay passengers (plus future GO routes) and would also offer some great development opportunities, while avoiding the challenges at Kipling.

Very true, although I would point out that Honeydale Mall would disappear in the scenario that I'm proposing. What would likely happen is a multi-level station, with the subway platform directly underneath the bus loop, with an adjacent GO platform accessible to both (bus from above, subway from underneath). On top would be some type of office or condo development.

Of course, you could also add a yard to this proposal, which would scale it up considerably, but would ease demands at Greenwood, as well as facilitate any further western expansion. It could also open up Vincent to redevelopment, which could potentially offset some of the construction costs.
