I just recently came across a YouTube tour of Heatherwick Studio’s 1000 Trees near Shanghai Railway Station which reminds me of KING Toronto. The project is nearing completion with one of the two buildings still covered in scaffolding. Despite half of it covered you do still get a very good sense of the mountain-like massing and the trees and vegetation that’s growing off of it. Covered in scaffolding and tarp it looks surreal and ghostly, almost like a life-sized illustration.
It’s quite the sight and the gardens looks to serve as a really nice outdoor public amenity.

we were in Shanghai, and nobody liked the design.
It is being seen as a "grave" and lack of appreciation - proving that good design must include good fit with the neighborhood and the local expectation
