Gross operating expenses of ECLRT, FWLRT, SELRT will be $214 Million per year, to be paid by City of Toronto. Some of this will be offset by not having to run buses on those routes.

Net financial impact of ECLRT is $39 Million per year.
Well we knew the province was broke. This is still annoying however.

At least Eglinton can probably pay for itself.

Well not really, considering the city paid for the operating costs for similar types of transit elsewhere. If there is a reversion to the province paying for a share of the operating, it should be more universal approach instead of on a line by line basis.

Capital cost estimate to the city for Eglinton West SmartTrack LRT is $2B. That number assumes that Mississauga and others will contribute.

Specifically, the GTAA. All I can say is 'good luck!' As Matt Elliott pointed out on Twitter, remember that GTAA actually imposed a $2 parking levy on UPX fares?

This Tweet by Matt is the best summary of what ST has become.

"SmartTrack (noun): a John Tory initiative in which Toronto volunteers to pay for large parts of a provincial transit project."
