Toronto CityPlace Puente de Luz Bridge | ?m | ?s | Concord Adex | Francisco Gazitua

Why shouldn't they take credit for it. They did build it.

I remember watching an interview with a Concord exec a few years ago who was trying weasel out of building the bridge and was saying that no one will use the bridge, it isn't necessary etc. If Concord wasn't legally obligated to build it due to prior negotiations they would never have built it.

So basically Concord paid for it because they had to, but the city (Adam Vaughan) made it happen.

I biked through CityPlace today. The bridge looks a lot more massive in person than it does in the photos, which I like. A bigger bridge is a more inviting bridge in my opinion. CP is still ridiculously cut off from the rest of the city though. Railways to the north, expressway to the south. Spadina is a complete horror to cross as a pedestrian, cyclist, or driver. The only potentially inviting connection to the rest of the city is Bathurst, but based on the grade separation problem, god only knows when that connection will actually be opened up. A lot is riding on this pedestrian bridge as a way of opening CP up to the rest of the city.

Gee, sorry..i thought that was pretty tame compared to what is said about the mayor on every second thread. Again sorry for hurting someones feelings.

AG,

After re-reading the post, I realize that you were directing your "socialist crybaby" statement towards Adam Vaughan and not a poster on this board. My reading comprehension skills are, at times, mediocre. It still doesn't make it right, but I'm glad to see you weren't calling another forum member those names. (since as you point out, personal attacks on other political figures are routine and accepted around these forums). My reaction was a bit knee-jerk and I will apologize for that.

I disagree with you most of the time AG, but I still think you have a far worse rep around here than you deserve. You contribute a lot of time and thought into this forum and I for one, appreciate the controversy and friction that you can bring (provided you don't cross the line).

....back to the bridge....
