I've hardly heard a blip about the Rouge River by-election. Who are the frontrunners?

I see perennial candidate Neethan Shan is using his old NDP signs (with the NDP logos cropped out).

I would hate to be that moderator.

After a brief scan of the candidates websites, it looks like the two most serious candidates are the aforementioned Shan, who has the name recognition and NDP machine, and Hratch Aynedjian, who has high profile endorsements from local politicians like Raymond Cho and Brad Duguid. http://hratch.ca/

Fringe candidate Amanda Cain has one of the most egregious campaign violations on her website - she rips the "VOTE" banner on her website straight from the City's official election website. http://www.amandacain.ca/

In fact the actually number is 29 candidates. Get ready for another first-past-the-post epic failure.

With 29 candidates of more or less equal level of obscurity, in an election where the electorate will have record levels of apathy....

You'd probably have to eliminate like 90% of the votes under ranked ballot before finding 50.1% for any one candidate.

So, at risk of grasping at straws, does this mean (given party affiliation) we actually get a vote back (outside downtown, nonetheless) in the pro-bike-and-pedestrian infrastructure camp? by trading Cho for Shan?
