looks like they are going back to selling cereal boxes...

The biggest cut seems to be the PATH connection. I hope that the reduction doesn't preclude future connections to the south/north/west

From the floor plans I saw last July, I think the first proposal must have been sent before they did the floor plans. In the floor plan I saw last year, there's 11 units per floor. They start on 3rd floor up. There should be 583 floors. The amendment says 578. I assume 55th floor is pent house has 5 units hence 578.
Maybe the original proposal was for a slimmer tower with less units per floor?

Here's a rendering from the Condominium Builders' Annual. Have we seen this one before? I don't think so.

THEN:

This application proposes a
-31-storey office building with a gross floor area of 73,725 square metres
-retail area of 1,823 square metres,
-PATH of 2,561 square metres, a
-65-storey residential condominium building with 593 dwelling units,
-and a 55-storeyresidential condominium building with 503 dwelling units at 16 York Street.
-In total, the gross floor area proposed is 160,891 square metres (1,731,873 square feet).

NOW:
There was a Notice of Public Meeting in the Star yesterday for a request to amend the official plan.
Details: April 21, 10:00 a.m., Committee Room 1, 2nd Floor, City Hall.

The application to amend proposes:
-a 31-storey office building with a gross floor area of 74,106 sq. m.
-a retail area of 1,436 sq. m.
-PATH connection of 808 sq. m.
-a 65-storey condo building with 687 dwellings
-a 55-storey condo building with 578 dwellings
-Total floor area of 162,452 sq. m.

How's that different from before?

- office building increase GFA by ~ 400 SM;
- retail area reduction by ~400 SM (possibly taken up the office space ???);
- PATH connection reduced by ~ 1750 SM;
- 65s condo increase of 15% units;
- 55s condo increase of 15% units;
- gross floor area increase by ~1,500 SM (~1%).

So what does all this mean?
Are the units going to be smaller, or will the condo be slightly larger to accommodate the increase # of units; or both?

Sokol367 over at SSC has posted some low-res pics from inside the new sales centre....

Only 5 elevators for 55 floors? I would have thought 6 for sure.

Maybe the PATH Connection is being reduced because before it included a connection through what is now 18 York? And hence now 18 York is eating a chunk of the path connection?

Okay, as much as I dig this design, I have to come right out and say it: this project is absolutely inappropriate for this site.

We need something with a big chunky, street-wall-forming podium, just like MLS across the street. York Street down here should be a canyon.
