"Placating some whiny dog owners" is really just some strange code for "allowing a lot of people trying to get to the park to cross safely". Are they whiny because they're crossing with a dog, or because they don't want to get hit by a speeding car while they do it?

A push button crosswalk wouldn't make sense on Adelaide not only because of the width and speed, but because the lights are timed/sequenced along Adelaide there. But it's definitely true that the streetcar shouldn't stop there. It's less than a 2 minute walk from the Ontario stop to either the Sherbourne or Parliament stop.

Adelaide and Power is a scary racetrack and I've only made the mistake of walking that way once or twice, and now I avoid it. As of last time I passed by there was not even a painted crosswalk. Considering the large condominium developments in the area, I think it's reasonable to provide infrastructure to let those residents get around more safely.

And as far as the dog walkers, well, I think most people would prefer they use the designated and fenced off-leash park rather than have dogs running loose in other parks, so let's make it safe and easy for the dogs and their owners to get there and back and everyone wins.

There's no code here. I've never met a dog owner that uses that park that wasn't completely bizarre. I was dog sitting and went there a few times and it was really bizarre the people there.
One time a "fight" broke out between two 20-something men who started shouting at each other. I don't know what started it but it featured quotes such as "you're not a responsible canine parent!" and from the other guy "your dog isn't sufficiently socialised to be in a communal park!".
I imagine they both then went on TikTok to talk about the trauma caused to their dogs that day by the experience.

Like the people there calling themselves "dog-parents" are so extraordinarily serious it's.... bizarre.

Thing is, the stop distance from Sherbourne to Parliament is only 420M; I would argue there should not be any stop at Ontario street; need for lights solved.

You can't be doing lights every 200M; not just because it slows drivers, but because it slows streetcars and buses, and at ~$150,000 an intersection to install and $ to maintain, its just wasteful.

I don't actually want "new" lights, I think you could move them from Berkeley Street to Ontario Street, which I think given the evolution of the area would work better, and if you move those lights Ontario Street could probably made fully two way too, something which I see is actively ignored by drivers since that public parking garage opened between Richmond and Adelaide there's a lot of "well it's only a few metres the wrong way" drivers zig-zagging the wrong way.to get north or south of Adelaide to King.

As a cyclist who uses Berkeley nearly every day to access the Richmond and Adelaide bike lanes, moving the streetlights from Berkeley to Ontario Street, would be an absolute nightmare, and makes no sense at all. Ontario is a disconnected and disjointed street. Berkeley actually makes some useful connections.

The place to the left of this new Bar Ardo has a city notice taped to its door ordering it to “remedy an unsafe building”. Moreover, the INS convenience store, next to the bubble tea place, also went bust with its lease having been terminated.

Yikes, that's the former Hiro Sushi, correct? I've always been slightly alarmed that the building looks quite crooked, I wonder if that's the cause. If you look in in this streetview image you can see the leftmost second floor window above the red facade slumps dramatically downward on the left. But I'm just speculating, the cause could be something else entirely.
