Roads: 403/401/410 Interchange (MTO)

I noticed the ramp from 401 east to 403 west is finally open now.

Precisely. Airport Road/407 takes 32 minutes for 40.4 km - but only 35 minutes on Countryside/Teston for 35 minutes and only 29.3 km. or 34 minutes taking 410/407/400 for a whopping 49.4 km!

Not sure why one would take 407 to save just 4 minutes, and drive almost 40% (or 69%) further!

But my point was, who'd take 401? It doesn't even come up.

If I force it to take 401 (between 427 and 409) it tells me to go down 410, 401, 400 ... but it takes 53 minutes and 56.2 km! That's almost double the distance of going cross country, and much moree time than any of the direct or 407!

Going eastbound on the 403 to 401 today, the new westbound ramp to 401 is not open yet.

HOV signs for the northbound 410 lane are cover up.

To gain access to the westbound 401 ramp, you have to use the 403/collector lanes and it was in the process of being pave. Still has some other work to be done before the rest of paving can be done. All the bridge work is done south of the 401.

We try out the eastbound ramp to 403 last night and it will be faster to get us to my place than using Hurontario.

And in 1974 the population of Peel Region was only 350,000 compared with about 1.5 million today. Shows how highway construction has fallen far behind population growth.
