miWay Transit

That new plan seems so backwards, it's like anything that isn't on a major road is being lost.

For example, compare the east end of Courtney Park now and then, all of those streets lose service.
Lots of service lost along businesses south of the airport.
Rexdale loses service - routes 30 and 12 are completely gone.
There's still also a big gap in service between Mavis and Creditview.
Meadowvale just straight up loses a bunch of streets with service.

The new plan seems to depend on dumping passengers at the Transitway when possible. But only one route - the 109 - will operate along the entire Transitway and into Islington Station, a major origin/destination. Why is the 100 being sent to the airport? It pretty much replicates the 107 between Square One and the Airport and 110 between Square One and UTM. Will the 109 run at least every 10-15 minutes from 6AM to past midnight, 7 days a week? I doubt it.

And I am completely agreed about Route 51. Why do you need three bus routes - 5, 15 and 51 -looping in an industrial backwater?

It's also quite clear that without stations at Mississauga Road and Creditview, the value-engineered Transitway isn't all that helpful.
If you look at the 2004 EA, those stations were there, but the NIMBY and the cheapening of this Transitway, the whole section was cut and replace by shoulder 403 route.

I have already have said this plan has a few pluses, but a lot of poor planning, with most riders been force to used the Transitway, doing a lot more than 1/2 transferring and longer travel time if the headways aren't lower.

I said to council in Dec for the transit budget, all Major Trunk lines need to be 10 minute or less and having a max of 15. 7 days a week. All routes need to be 10-30 minute 7 days a week with a few seeing longer headway as well not running after X hours. due to non ridership. Cabs would replace that service for those that need the service. This require an extra 2% increase to the operation budget as well cover the cost of add 7/24 service on 15 routes.

I do see some of my handy work here considering various ideas go back as far as 2003. Moving to a grid system is long over due as well removing Sq One as major hub that forces riders to spend too much time trying to get to where they really want to go. Then, there is the lack of roads to do a grid system in the first place.

The city is not willing to built the true hub in the first place considering the current one is in the wrong location, built for a city of 250,000, handle 25,000 and outdated before it was built. See close to 50.000 today with the expansion and no room for more. Then they never used the lower plan level for the BRT that been there since day one. By removing route from Sq One, it helps to take the load off for bus bays as well the need to expand.

It is clearly if the Peel Transit exist today, the issues surrounding 5, 51, 19, 103, 66 and other routes wouldn't be there.

The Transitway will run 7 days a week with 10-15 minute service to the point DD buses will show up down the road to deal with increase of ridership and to maintain the 10-15 service without adding more buses.

What doesn't show up on the map is the 76 that will run all day, 6 day a week, the 26 going to the main terminal on Sunday as well a few other things. It does show bus routes running all over the place trying to find rides and giving them a long ride compare today. It does cover some badly need service to areas that see none today. You will be able to get to the Hersey Centre 7 days a week all day that can't be done now as well a lot easier.

Full detail of all the routes changes plan for this year were on display at City Hall. Too bad they didn't have the quality of service on them and that most likely they are still on them.

Route 10 will see 2 changes this year with the 2nd change being a dog breakfast, as it running around looking for riders. It does provide the badly missing service on Bristol east of Hurnontario. My Recommendation that the route terminate at the Transit Way, but will not supply service to those who currently see route 53 south of the Transitway. Those riders will have to walk a block north or south to catch service to Sq One.

I still say leave 26 100% on Burnhamthorpe 7 days a week. No service improvement plan for this route at all this year and another mistake.

The 53 is supposed to go to Cooksville GO station, but until the station is rebuilt, going to stop at Fairview and another Mistake.

These changes are in the right direction some what, but more failure than good customer service.

The fall will see another round of public meeting for the 2017 service changes.

No Sunday service for 107 & 109 until the whole Transitway is open and another mistake.

Route 3 & 8 are now to remain on detour until April 29, not Mar 27 as plan. This is due surprises that were found during the excavation for the storm water trunk line rebuilt.

The car folk will be happy this weekend when Mississauga Valley reopen after an extra 2 month delay. They should be thankful we didn't get last year weather that would push the opening to June.

Temporary asphalt is being place today and the rest of the traffic lights will be install by Friday.

With the reopening of the Valley Blvd, route 53 will be able to start running April 11 on it to loop at Fairview.

Please be advised that effective Monday March 14, Mississauga Valley Boulevard will be reopened at Elm Drive, however Elm Drive will remained closed until June 30, 2016.

The current Route 3 detour will remain unchanged but the Route 8 detour has been modified to continue along Mississauga Valley Boulevard between Arista Way and Central Parkway. The following will be in effect regarding stops:

Route 3 East

Last Serviced Stop: #0077 Elm Drive at Hurontario Street

#0066 – Elm/east of Hurontario

#0078 – Elm/Mississauga Valley

Returns to Regular Routing: #1215 Mississauga Valley Boulevard at Central Parkway

Route 3 West

Last Serviced Stop: #1264 Mississauga Valley Boulevard at Central Parkway

#0059 – Mississauga Valley/north of Central Parkway

#0068 – Elm/Oblisk

#0069 – Elm/Hurontario

Returns to Regular Routing: #0070 Elm Drive at Hurontario Street

Route 8 North

Last Serviced Stop: Temp Stop – Mississauga Valley Boulevard at Oblisk Way

#0068 – Elm/Oblisk

#0069 – Elm/Hurontario

Returns to Regular Routing: #0070 Elm Drive at Kariya Drive

Route 8 South

Last Serviced Stop: #0077 Elm Drive at Hurontario Street

#0066 – Elm/east of Hurontario

#1243 – Mississauga Valley/Elm

Returns to Regular Routing: #1228 Mississauga Valley Boulevard east of Arista Way

MiWay is planning to remove the 26 from City Centre Terminal on weekdays on April 11, although it will still stop there on weekends. I have the feeling that a lot of people are going to complain about this.

like most things...more people will complain about it than the number who ever used it.

This is going to council next week and will be the nail in the coffin for displaying signage on buses for holidays or other events. It was caused by a request to display a certain holiday.

Since MiWay Transit Operators can choose to display (or not display) pre-programmed, nonservice-related messages, achieving consistency across the fleet of more than 460 buses is not always feasible. Increasing the scope of non-service-related messages would add complexity to transit operations and present other challenges. While holidays such as Canada Day are promoted in corporate facilities (Celebration Square event), other City vehicles and corporate facilities do not display holiday messages such as Merry Christmas.

As a result MiWay recommends displaying only service-related messages to focus on the information customers need to travel.

Also this could be class for miWay and I have nothing to do with it.

Good Afternoon,

Please join Move the GTHA and the Western GTA Move Taskforce for a community meeting to discuss how investment in our regional transportation network via the provincial transportation plan,The Big Move, has unfolded since it was announced in 2008. This discussion will include a look at transportation at both a regional level and locally here in Mississauga. Listen to local experts talk about the opportunities and challenges of implementing such a comprehensive plan. Contribute to the discussion of how we move forward by participating in workshops designed to get your feedback on these issues.

The Big Move is Ontario’s plan to build a comprehensive transportation network by 2033, which will include 1,334km rapid transit at an estimated cost of $69 billion. When completed, the transportation network will connect municipalities from Oshawa in the east to Hamilton in the west and from Niagara Falls in the south to Barrie in the north into one integrated system. Without going thru all the routes..........is there one route that is strictly a Transitway only route that just goes back and forth on the Transitway/403 all day?

At this time 109 is and will be the only line going from Winston Churchill Station to Kipling outside of GO Transit new routes in 2017. Currently using Erin Mills as start point until 2017.

107 will run like it does today using the Transitway up to Renforth. 110 will remain the the same.

100 will start on opening day from South Common Mall to a new terminal at Terminal 1, not the current location that will be use by 107. 100 was originally to run from Ridgeway Station, but since it got cut it was to be from Winston to Kipling and that has been change again.

Starting in 2017, various routes will be reline to run out of the various stations as well being removed out of Sq One Terminal.

Route 39 will finally be extended to Renforth that was plan on happen years ago. There is talk that Route 35 will stop at Renforth forcing riders onto 109 along with a few other route due to lack of bays at Kipling which was known from day one.

The routes that will run out of Kipling 10 bays that I know at this time and subject to change up to 2019 are: 1, 1c, 101 Dundas, 3 Bloor, 11, 11c Malton, 26 Burnhamtorpe, though this may still go to Islington as is, 109, 108, 35, with the others being up in the air at this time.

GO will have 4 bays and no word what they will be used for as final routes.

Why would 26 serve Kipling? Wouldn't it make sense for it serve Islington? TTC's 50 serves Islington as well. Islington is the closest station to Burnhamthorpe.

20 and 26 and should continute to serve Islington. TTC route 50 should be cancelled, it is a completely redundant route.

I have recommended since 2005 before TTC commission 2 times that MT takes over 50 & 49 with reports from TTC staff to be brought forth to the business case I used to support the recommendations. To date, no report has every surface on this. Metrolinx fully support my recommendations, but has no say in the matter at this time.

MT 5 year plan has 20 not going into Toronto at all and can hear the bitching already and support the bitching. 26 is plan to use 427 to get to Kipling, but it should go to Islington as is. The reason why MT can't improve 26 service is because of the NIMBY folks in Toronto as well TTC and ward councilors.

The recommendation has gone to MT and Council, but have real no say on Toronto matters even if it effects the city.

MT is not sure which route will continue to Islington from Kipling since about 500 people work in the area from Mississauga and it would do away paying an extra fare going one stop. Its either 1 or 26.

TTC would save $1 million and 3 buses turning 50 over to MT. TTC would only save 3 buses for 49 as MT would take a blood bath on taking over that route to the point TTC would have to fund MT the same amount they use for that route today.
