Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

So unfortunate that our super-cool new City Hall was built right behind the frigging financial district where the most lucrative and desirable commercial property is and where large companies are most likely to have supertalls constructed, but instead are forced to max out around 40-60 storeys because of shadows.

Not the greatest foresight back then! Then again, who could have predicted that our own City Hall would become the most powerful NIMBY force the city has ever seen?

You guys have got to be kidding.

Not only is there no indication that the present design has anything to do with City Hall shadow issues, but there is no indication that any commercial developer has had any desire during the last 30 years to build an office tower, anywhere in the city, that would qualify as a 'supertall' (whatever the f@ck that is).

So why should I care about city hall shadow issues again?

ha - UD, depends which site you sneak onto and steal the glass from!

CN - nice pics, I really like the black and white one with that gritty old building in the foreground!

Some Pics From Wednesday

A couple days old - which shows with the curtainwall. It's going on at an incredible speed.

Me too. It has a powerfully corporate look, not something we're used to in Toronto since the 80s and 90s.

I really am impressed with this one!

BA is certainly lookin' good, the glass looks better each time I see it. That lump of towers that includes 390 Bay really are eyesores though. Too bad something nicer didn't anchor that corner, as they look like the building equivalent of a wood picket fence or something. I don't know, I just really dislike them.

The Sheraton Centre sucks too, but that's a whole other can of worms.
