Back in December 2013, BY-LAW No. 1714 was adopted by City Council to update the City's stance on Employment Areas in general, and at the same time make a number of site-speficic amendments in the Official Plan for sites scattered across the city.

One of those sites was 1250 Markham Road, where the following was passed, adding zoning that allowed for senior citizen housing on the north portion of a property containing a church. Here are the details from the By-law:

Now, two years later, there's a plan for a two-tower senior citizens housing complex related to the church on the land. The development is called Trinity Ravine Towers, and the first of two phases is up for sale now.

Right next to Tuxedo Court? Might have a hard time selling..
Realtor friend called me to check out opening sales today. Lots of people and lineups. Doesn't seem like it will be very hard to sell but let's see. Maintenance 0.52 cents prop taxes .8% parking included on 700sqft+ units locker 3k extra otherwise 18k for parking and locker.

Updated renders from the Dev App site:

I have a question it may sounds stupid but.. how is it legal to enforce an above 55 years old occupancy age? Doesn't that count for discrimination?

That's why they are selling life leases, and not condos. It wouldn't be legal were it a condo, but somehow when you are essentially selling the right-to-occupy, you can place covenants on the "sale".

So this development phase 1 and phase 2 do not seem to have broken ground at all, the parking lot is fenced off but no construction work is visible and no news has been provided since a Thanksgiving dinner in 2018 indicating that construction was set to begin soon. Has anyone seen any news on this build?
