There is something very New York City about the massing of this tower - its sheer verticality as it rises from the street without a big podium. Very urban in a good way.
I disagree. These types of patios work very well on Ocean drive and Lincoln road in Miami, which both have far more pedestrian activity than I have ever seen on Yonge street.
I love it. I've seen these types of patios all over Europe, and even in Chicago, NYC, and Miami, where they look amazing and add incredible vibrancy. I always wondered why our liquor laws prevented this type of patio and am so happy to see that we're finally catching on.
There's no sunk costs in the subway at this point. No contracts have been tendered, environmental assessments haven't even begun. At this early stage it could be cancelled for zero dollars, and the city would save the full $1 billion that's about to be wasted on this.

The curtain wall glass being installed at the site of the construction elevator looks quite sleek. This gives me hope for the top of the tower, as I assume the glass there should be identical.
