Student Living - Bachelor or Basement Apartment!

Good Afternoon! I will be moving to Toronto in August to attend school in September. I am currently looking for a bachelor or basement apartment for rent. Does anyone know of any buildings that are *decent*? I've seen a lot of god awful places, and need some help! Please keep an eye and an...

How to seek employment in the city?

Hello Everyone, I am currently marketing myself for employment and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how to find a job in Toronto. I just graduated from the University of Toronto studying English, History and Art History. I also have great extra-curriculars and lots of job...

    Marshalls

Shopping at Marshalls in the U.S., I had no expectations of Marshalls being any different than Winners when it arrived in Canada, as they are virtually identical. I think it is simply just another banner to sell the same things under just as we have with grocery store chains that operate under...

    Bloor-Yorkville Scene

Hmm. It says major brand. You would think she would say major designer if it was one of those aforementioned companies. Perhaps Top Shop?

    Marshalls

They are all the same company. TJ Maxx and AJ Wright are also apart of that company grouping.

    Express

I love Express. The clothing is definitely a step up from Abercrombie and Fitch. You won't find their name all over the clothing, often times just a small lion. You can get everything here from t shirts and flip flops, to a suit. They have great selection. The prices are on the higher end of...

    Simons

Simons won't happen in the Yorkdale expansion. They said the expansion will bring 145,000 new sqft to the mall. Simons says they need their stores to be approx 100,000 sqft. Given that the expansion includes an entire food court, and 40 additional stores, it doesn't seem likely that a department...

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

The Forever XXI at Yonge and Dundas no longer carries a men's section. I was told it would be replaced when the stores moves into the Toronto Eaton Centre. If XXI abandons Yonge and Dundas, we should be seeing some high profile real estate opening up. Any idea what could be moving into this...

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

They really are taking a different approach to the stores here compared to the US stores. I'm so used to seeing that vault looking store with the fiery Hot Topic sign. This looks much more industrial and rather bland. I suppose they are trying to reach a broader audience.

    Apple Store

When I bought my iPhone 4 at the Bell store in Ajax, the manager there told me she had been told my multiple people within Bell that a store would be opening in the Oshawa Centre. This does make a lot of sense, because everyone from Pickering to Peterborough to Kingston often uses this mall to...

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

I don't know that A&F has much of a disposable income right now. Their stores are performing horribly in the United States, they recently closed their upscale "Ruehl 925" brand and they are now holding sales and sending out coupons which for many years was not in their business plan. I can't see...

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

Jack and Jones is currently under construction in the Oshawa Centre. La Senza is also closed for construction, perhaps this location will also become PINK by Victoria Secret as there are already 4 other La Senza locations in Oshawa. Lastly, both Rodeo Jewellers and Costa Blanca have vacated...

    Toronto Eaton Centre

I'm from the 905 and I usually drive downtown 2-3 times a year with the sole purpose of going to the Eaton Centre. I always park in the Bay Parkade, as I find it easier to get in and out of rather than that on the Yonge side of things. Parking is definitely handy there although there certainly...

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

Maybe we will see Lord and Taylor finally creep into the Canadian market.
