Yonge Sheppard Centre Renovations and Expansion
|
The Yonge Sheppard Centre is a comprehensive mixed-use development undergoing a major transformation at one of the city’s critical transit intersections, Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue. Engaged by clients RioCan Living and KingSett Capital, Quadrangle was retained for their ability to manage and lead large scale mixed use projects with complex site restraints. A new 35-storey residential tower and a revitalized retail design are some of the key moves intensifying the site, while maximizing value for the clients.
Originally built in 1976, Yonge Sheppard Centre was one of the first large scale developments of this nature in North York. Due to its age and surrounding growth, the existing development faced a number of challenges such a major tenant change, poor circulation, dated interiors. The Centre’s new design focuses on improving the pedestrian realm to include new street related retail and re-oriented service access for the site’s multiple tenants and uses. In addition, the development also features new rental replacement housing, new loading facilities, a relocated day care and upgraded underground parking.
