Amica at The Balmoral Club has topped off at 13 storeys, with cladding now largely complete at Avenue Road and Balmoral Avenue’s southeast corner, just south of St Clair Avenue West in Toronto’s Deer Park neighbourhood. Designed by Montgomery Sisam Architects for Amica Senior Lifestyles, the seniors residence replaces a three-storey retirement home and two adjoining houses.

Viewed from Balmoral Avenue in October, 2025, the reinforced-concrete frame reached 13 storeys as work shifted to the mechanical penthouse. Smooth-finished precast piers and horizontal bands frame largely unglazed openings up to the west elevation’s seventh-floor step-back. Insulation remains exposed along the sixth floor, with green and blue weatherproofing across lower levels. Above, exposed slabs, columns, and projecting balconies are lined with temporary guardrails.

A November, 2025 second-floor close-up showed initial glazing with gold-toned mullions and matching ventilation louvres, surrounded by exposed blue weatherproofing and metal facade support brackets.

In March, 2026, a mobile crane was assisting in dismantling the tower crane installed in February, 2024, with mast sections laid out at grade. A construction hoist remains near the north elevation’s west end. Facade installation had passed the halfway point, with precast framing and bronze-toned glazing below and weatherproofing reaching approximately the 11th floor. Branded hoarding and a covered pedestrian walkway lined the site.

By June, 2026, light hand-laid brick covered much of the east elevation, forming masonry piers beside gold-toned window framing and pale precast panels. Successive step-backs and projecting concrete balconies established a terraced profile, with temporary guardrails outlining future outdoor spaces. Scaffolds wrapped the uppermost tier above the final major step-back as brickwork continued across the upper four floors. Green and blue weatherproofing remained exposed on the north elevation, with an additional scaffold providing facade access within a narrow recessed bay east of the hoist.

Viewed from Balmoral Avenue this month, brickwork covers most of the north elevation. Scaffolding, partly draped in green protective mesh, surrounds the eastern wing and recessed bay for continuing masonry and exterior finishing. At grade, large openings await glazing beside newly installed dark grey brick. The east elevation steps back at the sixth and 10th floors, while unfinished ground-floor enclosures and the covered sidewalk indicate ongoing street-frontage work.

From across Avenue Road and Balmoral Avenue, the mechanical penthouse displays pale metal siding, glazing, and green weatherproofing at unfinished openings. Brick covers the west elevation, with residential glazing substantially complete outside the hoist access zone. Blue weatherproofing strips above the sixth- and ninth-floor louvres await final cladding. Recessed balconies retain temporary guardrails, while the hoist, adjoining scaffolding, and plywood-covered landing openings form a vertical work zone at the northwest corner.

Upon completion, the 52.7m-tall Amica at The Balmoral Club will deliver 147 rental units for seniors.
