A year after UrbanToronto’s October, 2025 update, 50 Scollard's cladding has reached its crown as streetscape work transforms its base at the northeast corner of Bay and Scollard streets in Toronto’s Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood. The 41-storey luxury condominium from Lanterra Developments is designed by Foster + Partners, with Arcadis as Architect of Record.
Viewed from Scollard Street in June, 2026, heritage houses on the site are free of scaffolds, revealing restoration overseen by ERA Architects. Shifted a bit east onsite to accommodate a piazza POPS (Privately-Owned Publicly-accessible Space) at the corner, their red brick facades feature stone lintels, olive-green window frames, and decorative wood trim. Grey shingled roofs cap projecting bays, while a central gable frames a dark, shingle-clad upper storey. Behind a red telescopic boom lift, the complex's modern, red brick service and garage entrance adjoins the houses to the east.
Looking north from the street corner July, 2026, hexagonal pavers surround planting trenches awaiting trees. Behind, boom lifts stand beside tall ground-floor lobby glazing beneath cantilevered volumes clad in corduroy-like precast panels, their unfinished soffits exposing framing and building services.
Bronze-framed, tripartite Chicago-style windows substantially cover the west elevation, with light-toned precast piers and aluminum spandrel panels. Step-backs at the 29th and 36th floors define the staggered massing. Blue weatherproofing covers most mechanical penthouse bays, with more work required on the one of the bays.
In August, 2026, warm architectural lighting traces the upper edges and vertical framing of several crown bays during a test. Bronze-toned screening now covers most of the west-facing mechanical penthouse enclosure, other than the one unfinished bay.
On the east elevation, glazing and light-toned precast framing reach the crown’s base, with north-side step-backs visible to the right. Matching glazing conceals the unusually positioned elevator and stair cores along the narrow floor plate’s east edge. Bronze-toned mechanical screening, blue weatherproofing, and exposed concrete mark varying stages of crown enclosure, with rooftop maintenance equipment and projecting davit arms above.
A September, 2026 view reveals the piazza wrapping around the tower’s southwest corner. Light-grey interlocking pavers form rounded pedestrian areas separated by a continuous serpentine planting trench, while darker paving curves around the tower base. Broad concrete sidewalks line Bay and Scollard, with temporary fencing enclosing ongoing landscape work. To the east, the heritage houses’ pitched roofs adjoin flat sections bordered by blue weatherproofing.
This month, crews have been planting maple trees to establish the piazza canopy. Workers tend beds behind temporary mesh fencing, alongside a compact tracked excavator.
50 Scollard stands 147.62m tall and will house 130 condominium units.
