Three towers are reshaping the skyline of Markham’s new southerly extension of Unionville at UnionCity. Designed by Arcadis for Metropia, the mixed-use condominium development will rise 36, 40, and 44 storeys from the north side of Enterprise Boulevard, within walking distance of Unionville GO station. UnionCity South is planned as the next phase, on the opposite side of Enterprise Boulevard.

Nine months later in June, 2025, the buildings were beginning to emerge above grade under three cranes. The centre crane with a red slewing unit was erected by November, 2024 for the 40-storey tower; followed in February, 2025 by a crane for the 44-storey tower at left, and the crane at right was operating by May for the 36-storey tower. Reinforced-concrete columns, walls, and slabs are taking shape across the site, with two levels formed at right and formwork supporting the third floor of the taller towers’ shared podium.

A view from April, 2026 shows the 36-storey tower at right reaching approximately 25 floors, with beige architectural cladding panels and window wall already enclosing its first eight levels. At centre, the 40-storey tower stands at roughly 19 floors, with formwork advancing on the 20th level, and a construction hoist running along its east elevation. Blue and green weatherproofing wrap the shared seven-storey podium, while sections of dark cladding and window wall enclose portions of the tower base and lower residential floors.

By June, 2026, the future 44-storey tower at right has reached approximately 18 floors, with part of the 19th level being formed and dark cladding extending to roughly the 11th level. The two more advanced towers rise behind, while white vertical bands and horizontal accents have begun to articulate the 40-storey tower’s envelope. In the foreground, a long concrete crash wall encloses the parking garage and protects the development from an accident on the adjacent GO corridor.

In August, 2026, temporary safety fencing, concrete barriers, and sponsor signage lined the 12-turn, 3.52km street circuit through Markham Centre for the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. Beyond the track infrastructure, scaffolding wraps the podium beneath its concrete rooftop parapet. At right, the 36-storey tower has topped off at its mechanical penthouse, with cladding reaching to within roughly nine floors of the uppermost residential level. At left, the future 44-storey tower continues upward, distinguished by stacked projecting trapezoidal balconies with white soffits, hiding the 40-storey tower from this vantage point.

This month, newly installed white balcony guards and cladding accents sharpen the lighter 36-storey tower at right. At centre, cladding has reached approximately the 31st floor as the structure approaches 40 storeys, shifting work from its largely complete residential levels to the mechanical penthouse. The future 44-storey tower at left stands at roughly 30 floors, with its envelope enclosed to about the 21st, while external construction hoists serve both taller structures.

Upon completion, the towers will range from 126.38m to 149.48m and contain 1,360 condominium units. Across Enterprise Boulevard and right beside Unionville GO station, Metropia is planning UnionCity South, comprising six towers of 41 to 45 storeys and heights of 141.5m to 150.5m.
