When it is time to pour a raft slab foundation, concrete mixer trucks and pumps are brought in to feed the waiting, hungry mat of rebar that needs to be fed until it is full: fresh concrete has to keep coming, not allowing portions to go solid, until all of it is ready to cure as one solid mass. That happened recently at this site in Scarborough, where a tower called Alta will take shape over the remainder of this year and throughout 2027.
