UTPro data reveals an increase in construction and pre-construction activity in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area compared to last month

The pipeline at a glance 

As of March 18, 2026, in the 10 regions of the Greater Golden Horseshoe (Toronto, Durham, Halton, Peel, York, Hamilton, Simcoe, Waterloo, Wellington, and Niagara), there are 3,609 projects in pre-construction, an increase of 14 from the previous month. In total, there is about 1.435 billion square feet of Gross Floor Area in pre-construction, up from (1.42 billion last month), 1.127 billion ft² of which is residential GFA (up 1.3% month-over-month) for 1.76 million dwelling units (up from 1.72 million).

Under construction projects also increased to 652, up from 644 last month. There is about 186.4 million square feet of Gross Floor Area in pre-construction, 123.6 million ft² of which is residential GFA for 227K dwelling units (up 2K from last month).
