Mattamy Homes has launched The Laurels as the first building in the developer's latest masterplanned community in Milton. Alongside Etobicoke’s The Clove (in partnership with QuadReal) and ClockWork at Upper Joshua Creek Phase 4, the development is the third recent launch of the developer’s GTA Urban Division. Situated at the northwest corner of Britannia Road and Ontario Street South (Regional Road 25) in Milton’s south end, The Laurels will rise beside a Natural Heritage System, offering residents urban amenities and natural surroundings.
A Mattamy launch event last month offered a chance for the community to gather to learn more about The Laurels and the future community. Its south phase will include four buildings, with the first a 14-storey tower comprising 216 residential units and three retail spaces, contributing to a total of 1,440 suites across the entire community. Spanning approximately 1,197,978 ft² of Gross Floor Area, the community also includes 124,000 ft² of green space and 4,500 ft² dedicated to retail, contributing to the neighbourhood’s streetscape.
Designed by Core Architects, the firm has crafted The Laurels with a focus on sustainability and aesthetic appeal. The structure will use cast-in-place concrete with reduced shear walls to minimize environmental impact. The exterior’s combination of materials will include a ground-floor curtain wall and rusted copper metal panelling that extends upward, with levels one and two featuring a brick finish.
Residents of The Laurels will have access to a range of amenities. The combined lobby and co-working space, equipped with Zoom rooms, reflects the hybrid setup for modern professionals. The social lounge will provide a setting for gatherings that is connected to the exterior social lounge. The cantina adds an appealing option for dining and socializing within the building, while fitness enthusiasts will have a well-equipped fitness centre.
Within their suite, residents will find high-quality finishes and functional design. Smooth-painted ceilings and single-plank laminate flooring aim for a clean and cohesive aesthetic. Open-concept living spaces are complemented by quartz countertops with square-edge design in the kitchens. Each unit will include in-suite laundry facilities with stacked washers and dryers. Ground-floor and ninth-floor terraces will feature gas hook-ups and hose bibs, adding to the outdoor living possibilities.
Mattamy is incorporating a geothermal heating and cooling system to provide renewable energy solutions for residents. In-suite energy recovery ventilators (ERV) and heat pumps will contribute to efficient climate control and improved air quality, with individualized metering for in-suite hydro and water usage. Select parking spots are to be equipped with EV smart charging stations, supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles.
Smart building technology will further add to the living experience. The resident communications app will keep everyone informed and connected, with digital access control offering mobile entry to the lobby and amenities, as well as smart locks for suites. Automated parcel lockers provide secure and convenient package delivery, notifying residents when their items arrive. Smart thermostats allow for easy control of heating and cooling settings within each unit.
Located just a short drive north of Oakville, The Laurels is located to take full advantage of Milton's offerings. Residents will find themselves just minutes away from a variety of restaurants, shops, parks, and conservation areas. The development is also close to the upcoming Milton Education Village, positioning it near an area primed for future growth and opportunity.
Construction is set to begin in March, 2025. The project is anticipated to take 30 months to reach first occupancy, with residents scheduled to move in starting September, 2027. Condo registration is planned for November, 2027, and final closings are planned for December, 2027.
