Twenty-five years ago, the movie Detroit Rock City was released. Filmed mostly in and around Toronto (a lot of it around St James Cathedral — can you find its spire in this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor TwinHuey?), the not-that-great film is slyly referenced in ROQ City, the development under construction in the centre foreground below. ROQ in this case stands for Richmond, Ontario, and Queen, the three streets that the residential and retail development fronts. With just a little determination, Toronto's ROQ City will end up better executed that Detroit Rock City, but that's a pretty easy bar to beat!
