A short walk west of Dupont station, ANX has progressed significantly since UrbanToronto last checked in on the excavation nearly two years ago. Designed by Teeple Architects for Freed Developments, the development’s road to approval started with a refused proposal for a 29-storey high-rise, eventually morphing to what's being built now. ANX now unfurls as two distinct applications: a 13-storey, 48.07metre-high condominium at 328 Dupont Street, and a 9-storey office component to the east at 318 Dupont Street. Together, they are situated a mere 90m from Dupont station on University Line 1.

Six months after our last update in October, 2022, we see the assembly of the tower crane in progress. The mobile crane and its telescopic boom hoist the tower crane's sections into position. The crane's operator’s cab lies horizontally on a transporter bed, awaiting assembly.

In this winter scene in January, 2023, the tower crane stands over the construction site. Surrounding the base of the crane, a line of formwork is visible, indicating the preparation for concrete pours. Orange tarp envelops the north and west elevations, while to the west, the existing building’s facade is being renovated. Strut beams extend along the north elevation and anchor at the northwest corner, providing lateral support to the excavation walls.

By August, 2023, the adjacent western building at 344 Dupont Street, to remain on site as per the development application, is being renovated with an updated facade. We see insulation and glazing work along the eastern elevation, with floor-to-ceiling windows along the centre of the elevation.

At the start of this year, two storeys are fully formed. Formwork — and on the first floor, shoring poles — provide the support necessary while concrete slabs cure. Rebar juts upwards from the tops of concrete walls, ready to be tied in with fourth floor rebar when another floor is reached. In the foreground, a red excavator is parked on Dupont Street, surrounded by safety pylons, for an unknown reason.

The east, office side of ANX, with taller floors. The thickness of the second-floor slab above the first storey is notable, indicative of a slab that must bears more load than others. The renderings call for a step-back for the subsequent floors away from Dupont Street, with the offices to feature a curtainwall glazing. A rectangular column extends vertically at the southeast corner.

In this recent northeast-facing view, we catch up with progress on the residential component. Forms for the fifth floor's columns and walls are in place, with the slab for the sixth floor in progress. At street level, a cement mixer truck stands, delivering concrete to feed the crane, while above it the crane hoists a bucket to where the fresh mix is to be poured.

Upon completion, the office portion will include five retail units at grade, while the residential side will house 118 units.

UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below. If you'd like, you can join in on the conversation in the associated Project Forum thread or leave a comment in the space provided on this page.
