The underbelly of the pillar-supported Rosalie Sharp Centre for Design at OCAD University is one of very few buildings in Toronto that we are ever to like run photo of its soffit. The unique building, which it will surprise many to know, is celebrating its 20 birthday this year, was recently captured by UrbanToronto Flickr Pool contributor edk7. Designed by the late Will Alsop of Alsop Architects along with Robbie/Young + Wright Architects, the levitating structure has settled in as OCAD U's iconic presence in the city, hovering 20 metres over McCaul Street and the original OCAD U building, while also providing sheltered gathering space and an entrance to Grange Park below.
