Amexon Development Corporation's The Residences at Central Park, located in Toronto's Bayview Village, has been recognized with five finalist nominations for the Ontario Home Builders' Association (OHBA) 2023 Distinction Award. Among the over 600 entries from across Ontario, The Residences at Central Park reflects its design approach that integrates urban living with natural surroundings.
The Awards of Distinction, an OHBA program that has run for the past few decades, recognizes creativity, innovation, and excellence amongst developers, builders, designers, marketers, renovators, and service professionals in Ontario. The entrants are judged by a panel of real estate industry professionals.
The project has been nominated in the categories of Project of the Year (high or mid-rise), the prestige OHBA People’s Choice Award, High-Rise Building, New Home Sales Office, and the Design/Decor Centre. These acknowledgments highlight the project's focus on architectural innovation.
The site's location at 1200 Sheppard Avenue East west of Leslie Street, is one subway stop east of the Bayview Village Shopping Centre, a hub for designer brands, gourmet shops, and diverse dining options. The 12-acre master-planned community designed by Core Architects represents a blend of urban conveniences with the tranquility of the East Don Parkland. The 31-storey tower part of the first phase showcases innovative architectural details that symbolize a balance between the modern structure and the surrounding greenery. Central Park Common, a three-acre space within the community, offers residents a place to connect and relax, reminiscent of a modern-day village green.
The development will offer direct access to the Leslie subway station on Sheppard Line 4. The site is also serviced by bus routes on Sheppard Avenue, and the soon-to-be relocated Oriole GO station, for a variety of convenient transit options. For those who prefer a scenic drive, major highways like the DVP and Highway 404 are easily accessible. These diverse transportation options enhance the convenience for residents, making daily commutes and weekend getaways relatively easy.
The residences themselves are designed with bright, spacious living areas blended with outdoor spaces, offering residents panoramic views of the East Don Parkland ravine. The interiors, characterized by modern aesthetics, are complemented by state-of-the-art amenities, including a fitness centre, rooftop pool, and co-working spaces. Furthermore, the development's proximity to the sprawling East Don ravine parks ensures that residents can indulge in nature walks, cycling, or simply relax by the serene trails.
UrbanToronto checked in on the site last month, when excavation work was set to begin along with forming of the underground parking garage as part of the first phase. As the project progresses, there is keen interest in its upcoming development phases since the launch of Amexon's presentation centre.
The public has an opportunity to show their support for such innovative projects. Until September 8, 2023, individuals can vote for their favourite project in the 2023 OHBA People’s Choice Awards. Those interested can visit the OHBA's Awards of Distinction website to cast their vote.
