Following on the heels of yesterday's story covering the latest class of projects entering the early stages of construction, today we are taking a look at the of projects that are seeing construction work wrap up, and beginning their (hopefully) long lives as functioning buildings. With new completions coming up every week, we are helping you keep track of all the exciting progress with a roundup of all projects completed in the last month.
Downtown Toronto's Fashion District neighbourhood now has a new 15-storey condo in the mix. Developed by Alterra Group of Companies with design work by BDP Quadrangle and U31, the project introduces 125 new units to the community in a built form that is scaled for the Richmond Street site, situated on the edge of mixed low and mid-rise neighbourhoods and the towering Downtown Core.
Topped off at 24 storeys, Verdé Condos is the latest addition to the Fairview Park master-planned community from FRAM + Slokker, located just north of Fairview Mall in North York. The Core Architects-designed tower leverages its proximity to Don Mills subway station, adding 374 new units to an area that is expected to see spiking density over the coming decades.
The partnership of Great Gulf and Hullmark can now toast the successful completion of their Downtown East development, made up of towers rising to 19 and 22 storeys from a shared podium. Designed by Core Architects, the project offers a total of 505 new units as well as a 43,000ft² grade-level retail unit to be occupied by Montreal based furniture retailer, Home Société.
Humber River Long Term Care Home
Located just west of the intersection of Jane Street and Finch Avenue, a new long term care home is now complete, making available 320 units for seniors requiring various levels of assisted living. Developed by the Humber River Hospital, the project tapped Montgomery Sisam Architects for the design, who developed a strategy to construct the 6-storey building with a steel frame.
Finally, just west of Oakville's Uptown Core neighbourhood, a condo development from Mattamy Homes rounds out our list of recent completions. The site has been developed with a collection of low to mid-rise buildings with a contemporary exterior expression, adding a diverse supply of housing options to a community dominated by single family homes.
That's all for the latest construction completions from across the GTA this month.
